PSIONICS

Psionics in Beldorn have always existed but were quite rare in the previous ages because of the prevalance of various diseases which were nearly always fatal to those who had the disease. The second reason for the rarity was the distrust of psionics. Many were killed outright because of fear by the purists (Divine and Arcane). Any that had powers generally kept them a secret from the populace.

The near destruction of Beldorn at the end of the third age caused the diseases that were prevelant to be gone and people were more interested in survival at that point. The psionics ability was codified by several people at a point early in the 4th age. It was discovered that there were really different types of psionists. They were named psions, soul blades and psychic warriors and that of the races the humans and elves were capable of the ability. It was later discovered that certain non-human races also were able to have the ability, like the Duegar and the illithids.

The psionics who are named benders by the general populace began to band together for protection and to learn from each other. The general populace still fears them.

SORCERERS

The sorcerers began to first appear at the beginning of the 4th age and were feared also by the populace and the purists of the divine and Arcane. There are rumors that sorcerers are born of dragonkind although there has been no proof brought forth
