A new Beginning February 23, 2009 03:00 Talos 30th-Cyric 1 500 5th age:
It is the year end celebration at the end of the 499th and the beginning of the 500 year since the meteor struck. It has been a cold, wet winter along the coast. The incursions of the undead have diminished since the attack on Bomac to the south some two years before. Although there are many strongholds for the undead the feeling is that they can be controlled and there is hope that the changes brought from the event can be reversed.
When strangers meet March 02, 2009 23:12 Cyric 1-7 500 5th age
The group was admiring the Rokanese version of the new years parade when they heard a scream from an alley. They saw a woman being dragged away by a group of thugs led by a priest of Cyric. Her bodyguards lie on the ground dead. The group rescued the young lady whose name was Bethany. She is the daughter of a local merchant named William. She takes them to her father who gives the group a reward and offers them a job. They are to steal spices from another merchant named Renard.
What they are to steal is rare spices imported from the 1000 island chain so William can sell them himself and offers the group 15% of what he sells it for.
The group breaks into the warehouse and finds that Renard has undead guarding his establishment. The fight is furious and the group finds that Renard has additional help. A priestess of Loviatar and other thugs show up but are killed off as well. The group finds the spices and gives them to William.
The group is paid and offered a new job by William. They are to head south and board and protect a ship that William tells them will be uncrewed. He is vague about how this occurs but hints that the group and the ship will be bait for undead. The group leaves and reaches the ship.
In other news a strange ship enters the harbor on Cyric the first and leaves on the fifth. It looks like a large snake with leather sails. A crowd appears at the docks and sees snake like creatures coming out of them. The group is escorted to the government center creating much speculation.

The group was searching the ship and was reading the ships log(see below) when Brent noticed skeletons and men coming across the hills towards the ship. The skeletal group was led by a priest of Cyric. Granite McPherson attempted to turn the skeletons away but fewer than expected skeletons were turned. The men in the invading group began to shoot arrows at the group targeting Eltharion who was trying to bring down the priest. The skeletons reached the ship and began to climb up. Fierce hand to hand fighting went on for a period of time, finally the group began to gain the upper hand and all but two of the bad guys went down. From the ship, there were skeletal rats trying to come up from the hull but Granite McPherson successfully turned them away and they were destroyed.
From the log it was discovered that the orginal cargo belonged to the 3A company and that the K&B company put some cargo aboard also. The group didn’t have much time to digest the information so some of them went down into the hold and began to search the cargo. Sven Fjordenhiem sensed something evil in one of the crates holding fish. The crate was opened and a box was found in the middle of Sardines.
Three of the group were top side when another group appeared over the hills. This time it was three, a woman and two men. The womans name was Tabitha and the men were Jacob and Joshua. They appeared friendly and claimed to be from William but Tabitha slept two of the three and Brent fled to the lower decks and grabbed the box that the others had left on the deck.
A discussion ensued and the group went back up to find the way up blocked. Tabitha wanted the box and was offering the groups compatriots for the item. Sven Fjordenhiem was still detecting evil from the box and the group found themselves stuck debating on trying to assault the others. One of the group heard a thud and a new voice appear. He claimed that his name was Andrew Darkseeker and he opened the locked doors. Andrew Darkseeker and a halfling named Welby Thorngage claimed that they knew that both Renard and William wanted the book. William was to use the book to pay a necromancer named Baris. Brent knew that name for it was the same necromancer who killed his family. Andrew Darkseeker paid the groups fee for protecting the ship and made the group release all their prisoners. The group returned to Valanar.
Andrew Darkseeker offered the group a protection job. A Rokan woman who owned the Silken Pleasure, a brothel. They would protect her for a week. The first day the group was attacked and drove off the attackers
CAPTAINS LOG
Talos 29th 499-Ship-Hyorn Rutherford, Captain Adrian Harrigan Uploaded cargo today. Will be setting sail on evening tide. Crew size 20 standard pay plus hazard. There have been no reports of piracy. The winds are to the northwest, expecting to make good time to Valanar. The cargo consists of fish and various oils. Property of the 3a company merchant master Damon releasing the cargo to us to be delivered to Renard in Valanar. IC belongs to the K&B Company and Phillip has released the cargo to us. The passenger is a priest of Cyric named Malcolm. Bunked him in with the navigator who complained loudly. Offered him some additional money. TALOS 30TH First full day at sea. Passed two other ships heading southward The Haradan and the Valiant. We sailed by the first light fire. Malcolm, even though he is a priest of cyric seems to be a splendid chap. He tries to assist the crew. Leo is ill as usual for his first day out. Probably doesn’t donate enough to the bitch queen or the storm god. TALOS 31st Its year end but we have a tragedy. Tomas was washed overboard in the unexpectedly rough seas. Tomas was a good sailor and will be missed. I inspected the hold to make sure the ever thing is ok. Damn I still can’t believe how much fish stink. It will take a couple of days to wash out the cargo hold. CYRIC 1 seas still rough. Some of the crews are complaining about rat bites. All ships have rats. I tell them to hunt them down during their off time. Two of the crew has come down with something. We see one ship today. The Griffon, one of the Valanar warships who patrol the area. CYRIC 2. The seas have finally calmed down. One of the crew passes away from the illness. The crew is worried about the disease and look at the priest of cyric in an accusing look. The crew complains of more bites but fails to find any rats on board which is very unusual. We put the body in the to bury him when we reach Valanar CYRIC 3 major problem today. The dead crewman reanimates and attacks one of the crew. He is tossed overboard and the Cyric priest finds himself at the center of the crews rage. He denies animating the sailor and gives reasons why he wouldn’t but I am unable to stop the crew. He kills two before he is also tossed overboard. Several of the men bite comes down an illness. We are now down four crewmen. The two dead crewmen are given last rites and dropped overboard. CYRIC 4 Two more crewmen are dead. One was found with all his skin stripped off and parts gone. Somehow we have offended at least one of the deities. Several of the men want to put ashore and forfeit their pay. I convince them that we will put into port within the next two days. We also give last rites to these men and commit them to the sea. During that evening I swear that I see the men in the ships wake. I call the crew together and recommend that we all sleep on deck. The men agree… CYRIC 5- last entry we are attacked by skeletal rats that swarm over several men. We are getting off the ship at first chance. We are in my cabin trying to get out the porthole and to the escape boats. May Latlander bless out chances.
guard duty for a week March 31, 2009 03:22 Cyric 9-15 500 [5th age]
The group protected Kiko for the week, foiling several attacks designed to get her. The group took a brutal amount of damage during this time. Fortunately Alcott and his band of thieves helped to protect her. It seemed odd that only the group and not the thieves group were ever attacked. Kiko was wounded in one of the attacks but survived. The job ended.
Monika, a paladin acquaintance of Sven Fjordenhiem, offered the group a easy job of escorting some prisoners to the city of Thieves across the bay. There is a regional prison named Marrowind where criminals of every sort are imprisoned. The job was to take an afternoon and the group would receive a nice chunk of change for it. There were twenty prisoners, the group, a crew of five and Monika who took the boat across the bay.
When the ship pulled into the dock a fireball blasted the deck, killing several of the prisoners, Monika and the crew and hurting the group. The fight ensued, the bad guys included a priest of Cyric and some fighters. As the fight progressed many of the remaining priests jumped the ship and began to swim away. Two of them went to aid the group and knocked down on of the bad guys. Finally the group got the upper hand and knocked off the bad guys. As the prison guards arrived one of the prisoners went to Sven Fjordenhiem and proclaimed that he was framed and was really wanted by the priest of Cyric for he had information that was worth a significant amount of money.
