The Price of Immortality

The Price of Immortality

The Price of Immortality is a campaign arc by Jason Bulmahn and Joshua J. Frost that has been divided into three parts. It follows the story of some youths who thought they were simply going off on a pre planned test of courage that was an over hyped ritual for their small town, and ends with them neck deep in a religious conspiracy that has cost them the lives of some of their fellow townsfolk and threatens to cover their nation in coruption. The books are Crypt of the Everflame, Masks of the Living God, and City of Golden Death.

Crypt of the Everflame

This is the begining of the entire story. Set in the small logging town of Kassen, the townsfolk are busy making preparations for their final fall festival before winter sets in. The festival includes a trip to a historic crypt to light a lantern with the ever lasting fire that burns over the tomb of the towns founder, Ekat Kassen. It normally is a simple four day trip that includes the Mayor and the town elders, but every so often the Mayor will choose a group of youths to make the treck as a sort of coming of age ritual. This year the town is extreamly excited and has set up all sorts of games of chance and has really played up the dangers of the journey. However from the very start of the festival something seems to be off, and the adventurers truely have no idea how dangerous this year’s lighting will really be.
