Plan 9 Pathfinder Open Table

TOEE Day Four

May 04, 2012 14:15

While the doomed adventurers were exploring the depths of the moathouse dungeons, the Paladin, Cleric, and a rescued merchant were making their way North to Verbobonc. Upon arrival, the merchant revealed that he was contracted with the Teamster’s Union, whereupon he made good upon his offer for a line of credit to the rescuers. The Teamsters equipped the heroes with better gear and teamed them up with a group of experienced caravan guards. Their mission is two-fold: first, they must deliver the same merchant south to Homlet to complete his original shipment, and second they are to investigate the sacked caravan and attempt to recover stolen goods.

On the southbound trip neither hero could recall exactly where their caravan was ambushed, as the wreckage had been cleared. Upon arrival at the Teamster’s Union building in Homlet they learned that the other two survivors of their ill-fated journey had quit the caravan guard business—one was living in the Temple of St. Cuthbert and the other living in a bottle at the Inn of the Welcome Wench. The newly-assembled team headed to the Temple first, whereupon they recruited Brother Harland—one of the caravan guard survivors.

Their next stop was the Inn of the Welcome Wench whereupon they met a local adventurer named Elmo. One hero, a barbarian possessing of great strength, challenged Elmo to a boxing contest—with one hand tied behind their backs! Several minutes later everyone had a great laugh—except for the Barbarian who was ultimately beaten senseless. However, it was all in good fun and nothing that a few drinks couldn’t fix. The group’s druid met with some local members of the Old Faith, and met them at their Grove for a night of revelry and worship.

The next morning, history repeated itself as the group headed north with a wagon full of empty crates and barrels, only to be ambushed in the exact place of an earlier attack! Brother Harlan noticed the area, and as he was standing in the wagon looking around he was slain by bandits! The heroes made quick work of these brigands and tracked them back to their base of operations…the Moathouse.

Once inside they discovered a stairway that lead into the dungeons, where they fought numerous monsters…a few green slimes, an enormous ogre named Lubash, and some zombies maintained in prison cells. The group also discovered numerous black capes with the cult of Elemental Evil’s yellow-burning-eye symbol and enough armor and weapon to outfit a small company. They also discovered a cleverly concealed entrance to lower parts of the dungeon hidden inside a column within the torture chamber. That column contained a set of iron rungs, whereupon an intrepid Halfling sorcerer began to explore…sadly, at the bottom he only found a group of resting ghouls!

TOEE Day Three

Day Three: Into the Dungeons.

After resting from their fierce encounter with the bandits holed up on the Black Chamber, our intrepid adventurers discovered a secret door, the key to which was on a keyring held by the bandit chieftain. Once below the surface the adventurers were dismayed to learn that a hidden portcullis fell behind them, effectively trapping them below. Not the least bit daunted, the team realized that the only way out was through—and so they began their journey through the dungeons of the Moathouse.

Their most notable encounter thus far has been a group of Bugbear recruits—the evil humanoids were caught unawares in their subterranean barracks. Each of the bugbears was wearing a curious black tunic with the symbol of yellow, burning eye.

Several hours later the group had slain the last of the monsters from this section of dungeon; a group of evil gnolls fell before the party’s furious onslaught. Eventually, their journeys took them to the elite guard—and while the heroes fought valiantly, they were defeated and slain…

Surely in time another band of stalwart heroes shall take up where the doomed party left off…

TOEE Day Two

April 04, 2012 12:31

Day Two: On the Road Again.

The party meets up with other like-minded adventurers who have also accepted the Teamster’s Gold to guard the two-wagon caravan that is headed North to Verbobonc. On the way, they are attacked by Bandits and make quick work of them. One of the wounded bandits turned out to be a sorcerer, and after popping off a quick invisibility and fog cloud, made his bloodied way back through the forest whence the raiders came. The party followed, close on his heels. When the bloodied sorcerer hit the open trail, he cast a well-timed expeditious retreat and did just that—running for his very life…

…and leading the party back to the bandit’s hide-out, an old fortification called “the Moathouse.”

Upon arrival the party found no signs of the wounded bandit, but did learn later that he was eaten by a giant frog—identical to the beasts that surged forth from the moat surrounding the bandit’s hideout!

The party dealt with this threat with no serious injuries, and began exploring the Moathouse. Various monsters attacked them during their investigations, but still no signs of the bandits. Eventually, their explorations took them to a large barricaded door, which the party forced open with a combined effort…

…only to be met with a hail of quarrels! The bandits had holed up in this large room and awaited to ambush the adventurers. Eventually, all bandits were slain, but two of our heroes fell during the fight. Fortunately, none of our heroes was slain.

After finishing the intense battle, our team of noble adventurers catches their breath before exploring any further…

TOEE Day One

March 28, 2012 12:25

Day 1: Arrival in Homlet

Our eager and noble adventurers have arrived in the sleepy town of Homlet, a trading village that still remembers the Evil that predated the lands only a few generations ago. Trade caravans have been attacked by bandits or worse, and the residents fear that the great Evil may yet arise again.

Current Events:

Party has explored much of the town and met its residents. Notable NPCs include Rufus and Burne, a pair of adventurers that more or less run the town after the first Temple of Elemental Evil’s destruction.

Party agrees to work for the Teamster Union as caravan guards for the price of one gold coin per day, payable upon arrival in Verbobonc.

Party meets the disagreeable Gremag, partner to Rannos Davl at the local general goods store.
— the Paladin of Heironeous detected that Gremag is rife with evil, and began an instant distrust of the vendor.
