Kaldaar is the human empire of the known world, run by a cabal of Black magic. Black magic is the process of extracting another's soul for your own power. White magic is the process of sacrificing your own soul. This division makes good and evil more than cosmetic or theoretical. The world of Sortha is home to many more races and regions than the human empire, but you will not find humans in those lands, or non-humans within the Empire. The world map is very different in the eyes of an elf or dwarf. Race relations are hostile along that division, particularly between humans and the societies who venerate white magic, like the Fey. Rumor has it that a young general in the borderlands is amassing an army capable of challenging the might of Kaldaar. Another rumor has it that Kaldaar itself is driving the elves to extinction as it moves to expand.
