First Foray 18th August
August 20, 2007 20:02
The party snuck into position, within view of the L’baros estate.
There was a fiery explosion. (perhaps chemical not magical)
The assault team, whoever they may be, were held up on the wall.
Adria, at the urging of the group, shot at the drow engaging the escaping team. This caused her some concern.
The assault team made it out bar one. On the ground on the other side of the wall it became apparent that they would out run the patrols. The guards on the wall however were quick.
The lizard man member of the assault team went right and one of the wallguards followed. Kostchei fled with the lizard man. Once out of line of sight Kostchei gestured to the lizard man to “let’s get him”. Kostchei then hid. The drow wallguard obliged by charging into the lizard man. Kostchei then charged from his hiding place, smashing the drow in the back.
The drow panicked and tried to cast a spell to escape. The lizardman punished him with a greatclub during his arcane gesticulations. Kostchei dragged the drow’s corpse and hid it in an alley. He removed it’s tabard and jewelery and smashed the head with his handaxe till it could not be recognised.
The rest of the backup crew had a less eventful return to their homes.
The party meets
August 20, 2007 07:41
The various characters met in an alley outside the L’Baros estate. We were there to provide backup for a group conducting a raid into the estate.
The characters are :- Derinoe – a human monk who was once a slave and now fights to overthrow the crinti
- Ridgeback – a lizardman who is a guard for a dwarven weapon merchant
- Sin – a mineralised mongrel man slave
- Adria – a crinti who wishes to escape the cycle of backstabbing for a better life. Her contact is the ranger in the forest near the gate of iron fangs
- Andorel – a male drow who has fled the drow city below for a better life
- Kosteshe – a human northman smith who works for Wulgar the dwarf

- So at 3rd level we will have..
- A 1st lv ranger, 1st lv fighter (one titan blooded level)
- A 2nd lv ranger, 1st lv fighter
- A 3rd lv monk
- A 2HD outsider lizard (one lizard ECL)
- A 1st lv rogue (two drow ECL)
I see lots of running away
At 6th level we will have A 2nd lv ranger, 1st lv fighter, 1st lv barbarian (two titan blooded level) A 4th lv ranger, 2nd lv fighter A 6th lv monk A 2HD outsider lizard, 3rd lv cleric (one lizard ECL) A 2nd lv rogue, 2nd lv Wizard (two drow ECL)
At 6th level the drow can buy back his first level, the lizard has already bought one back at 3rd. So from there onwards we are catching up.
Scared. Fragile.
My dodgy suggestion

I’m a bit dubious on the outsider on any race thing I suggested.. whoops. But humanoid and giant and the like levels are really crud. I think it’s a bit thin, but I can’t see any reason why you would make that combination- the celestial attended birth with otherworldly. All the native outsiders can already get the feat. So why make it accessible in Champions of Valour unless you intended to extend access. I can see some race combos might be a bit tough but it is going to delay most prestige classes for example. And the lizard god isn’t good. But that just means touched by nature/lizard/dragon instead of celestial.
I guess if the GM is happy with it, it’s all good. :)
Edit: I think the replacement of humanoid and giant levels is a good thing . I think it might be a bit over the top on plant/abberation/undead as they have a stack of bonuses to off -set their weak progressions. But I this and similar cases I’m in favour. And of course if you want a more “demi-human-centric” campaign then you just say, yeh-that regional feat was badly written. But I think the intention here was to make lizard folk a viable option. Which this does.
stuff to ask

Things to ask
Is the portal I came south through still functioning?
What sort of ruins was it in? Are they in or under Herath? Nearby?
Should I detail the devilish fire giant? family members? contacts amongst the nentyar hunters? I’ll need to return right?
I guess the real question is, why do we stick around not head north, anywhere else…
11th of August Character Gen

The players baked characters. A sprinkling of “Fromage de Munchkin” was applied to bring some sub-optimal character builds back from the brink of effectiveness. No more, honest.
We got- 3 characters who will be divine casters, 2 characters who will be arcane casters and a monk. I guess that’s sort of low magic in it’s own kind of way.
Actual characters as they stand at the moment are
A ranger- big Illuskan/Damaran human with titan blood, worships Shaundakul
Another ranger- crinti 1/2 elf drow upper caste local from Dambrath worships Mystra
A monk- human lower caste local from Dambrath, 2nd generation slave, originally from chult worships Thoth (this seems to indicate that the slave population of Dambrath is fairly cosmopolitan)
A rogue- drow male, fled to the surface for a better life, worships Eilistraee
A lizard- part of a failed raiding party captured by the crinti, worships Semuanya
