The group met at Sontverde to discuss the future of the resistance. Gunter Von Hiesenberg III asked if there were a place for the group to meet and train the gnomes. Duncan smiled and told the group of a manor house that was at the edge of the town. It was abandoned by its previous owner.

The manor house was checked out and found to be satisifactory for the group. The group distributed the accumulated weapons and armor to those gnomes whom claimed to be warrior types. The group also had a series of unidentified magic items, so they asked Duncan if he knew of a source of pearls. He replied that Anton would probably be a good source for them. The group, with one of the Firenzian wizard spell book in hand for trade went to the outskirts of the town to meet with him.

They found that Antons place was in a wooded depression. There were very large mushrooms and Snails to be found within. They knocked, the door opened and a very pungent reek issued from the house. Anton greeted them and said that he was cooking soup but he invited the group in. Choking down the gag reflex from smell, the group asked about procuring pearls from the wizard and showed him the spell book. Anton asked if the group had opened the book yet, the reply was no. He told the group to take it outside and test it for traps. The group detected a explosive rune and Vanion successfully disarmed it. Anton looked through the book and listened to the offer from the group. They all agreed to have Anton cast five identifies and then sell the group the pearls necessary for other identifications. The next problem came when Anton didn’t reconguise the coins and insisted that the group take it to the money changer.

Things didnt go well when Gunter Von Hiesenberg III wasn’t polite to Albert the money changer. He only offered half value for their coinage and Gunter Von Hiesenberg III was miffed about it. They ended up with a better deal when Duncan came back.

The group was then told of a possible ally that lived in the Neustat Hills in Firenz. It would be a journey of some 70 miles and would require the passage through the Beslau woods. The group left without Faera-Bael who was doing something at the manor house.

The group crossed the River Roselle and entered the woods. They had been in the same woods before but they were much further north. They ran into a an ettercap, spiders and a giant centipede at the same time but dispatched them with some grevious injuries. The group also ran into a tribe of Gnolls near a man-made hill with skulls adorning it. During the fight with the Gnolls, the skies became dark and and ghostly creature came out of it. Only Gunter Von Hiesenberg III will saved him from dying almost instantanously and the creature was defeated.
