A Shadow On The Water

A review. :)

I’ve just got hold of WFRP 2nd Edition (dead cheap too, thank you eBay). Reading through it I’ve realised that 90% of the rules are is actually what Fantasy Flight’s Dark Heresy and others (Black Crusade, Rogue Trader, Deathwatch etc.) have just refined a little into the shiny violent genius that is it’s current system.

It maintains much of the feel of 1st Ed, although I do prefer Tony Ackland’s interior pencil illustrations which I think hold most of the atmosphere of the setting for me. 1st Ed has that John Blanche art madness/genius which I think just tips it over into nostalgic gothic brilliance for me.

Artwork aside though, the rules are good here. Faster, clearer and I think better laid out too. As I’m very familiar with FF Dark Heresy rules I’m actually tempted to take them on over 1st Ed actually.

But before I do make that leap, what do you chaps think? All characters can be ported over to 2nd Ed without much fuss I think but I’d like to know your thoughts before I get all overexcited about it! :)
