The Creation Story
Ukko and his brother Kalma were the first to step out of the void. Compared to the chaos of the void the peace of this empty universe was a welcome relief. Ukko eventually became restless and convinced his brother that they should make themselves some companions. Rather than create them Kalma wanted to draw others like themselves out of the void. He drew Aradia and Herne from the void to keep them company. Ukko soon convinced Aradia and Herne of his grand plans for a Creation. Aradia formed the land, Herne embraced the land with sea and Ukko created the sentient creatures to reside in their realm.
The Creation was incessant noise to Kalma. It disturbed his peace and he wanted to end it. In the last moments of its construction he intervened to make the inhabitants mortal. They would live their lives and then pass into nothingness. Ukko was enraged. He and Kalma battled with such ferocity that the universe was nearly obliterated and thrown back into the void. Aradia and Herne threw themselves between the brothers and were nearly destroy trying to stop them. When dust of their battle settled, they saw that it had attracted attention from the void. Rauni, Kalevala, Kivutar, Torvenus, Finngerd, Tuoni, Correnthia, and Tuonitar had entered the universe from the void. There were heated debates, alliances were formed, schemes were crafted, and plans unraveled. Many of the dieties created new planes of existence over which they had dominion. Ukko gave the beings in the Creation immortal souls and Kalma was granted right of destruction over those that were determined to be unworthy, as judged by Rauni. Kalevala shepherds the souls to judgment and sees to it that the judgments are enforced. Kivutar created pain and suffering in the world, which Torvenus countered with compassion and healing. Correnthia inspired the beings to create lawful societies to support each other, while Tuonitar released pure chaos into the creation making it unpredictable. Finngerd was distressed that the beings were at the mercy of the gods so he taught them magic, the power of the gods. Tuoni was unable to enslave the Creation to his will, so he began work on a new creation that would obey him.
