A Simple Task or Two

Feats

All

  • Leadership – This feat is not allowed.

Druids

  • Natural Spell – This feat is not allowed.

Rule Change – Bite
Bite is listed as piercing, bludgeoning, and slashing damage. That doesn’t make sense. WotC lumped all types of bite damage into one category rather than seperate it out by different types. Going forward:

  • Carnivores would do piercing and slashing damage
  • Herbivores do bludgeoning only
  • Omnivores do piercing and bludgeoning

Rule Change – Shortswords
Shortswords are listed as piercing damage. This doesn’t make sense as they are shaped just like a dagger, just larger.

  • Shortswords do piercing or slashing damage

Variant Rules

Automatic Hits and Misses

The PHB says that an attack roll of natural 1 is always a miss and a roll of 20 is always a hit. We are going with the variant rule on page 25 of the DMG.

A natural roll of 1 is treated as a roll of –10. Add your regular bonuses to that amount to determine if you hit or not.

A natural roll of 20 is treated as a roll of 30. Again, add your regular bonuses to that amount to determine the outcome. (When rolling to confirm a crit, a 20 is still a 20)

Cancelled Games
Every once in a while, game gets cancelled due to last minute no shows. The DM puts aside the time for players each game day and invests personal time into setting up events for your characters. Other players look forward to game day, so when it has to be cancelled for last minute no shows, it isn’t fair in any way to the rest of them. Therefor, if you are one of the players who was left sitting alone at the table on game day or told last minute that there would be no game, your PC will be rewarded with either coins or XP – DM’s discretion as to which and how much.

This does not apply to preplanned cancellations.

Hit Die Rolls
Always reroll a roll of one.
