Aequilibris

Firearms were once commonplace across the world but since The Rupture the knowledge of gunsmithing and firearms has been lost. Firearms are items of priceless value and the science of gunpowder is a secret kept close within the circles of Gunslingers.

Gunslingers in the world of Aequilibris are very rare and only reveal the power they wield in the most dire of situations.

The following alternate rules are based on those found in Pathfinder Ultimate Combat.

The Reemergence of Firearms
During The Age of Restoration guns were commonplace. Now, in The Age of Corruption firearms are only beginning to emerge once again as adventurers delve into ancient ruins of ages past and unearth the lost firearms of old.

Due to the rarity of firearms and almost nonexistent knowledge of ammunition, firearms and ammunition cost double the amounts listed in the Pathfinder Ultimate Combat book.

Also, advanced firearms cannot be made, only discovered. Firearm magic items and magic qualities are not available to be made nor discovered. Most theorize that some unknown force since The Rupture has caused interference between the merging of firearms and magic.

The Exotic Weapon Proficiency (firearms) is converted to Exotic Weapon Proficiency (early firearms).

Only Gunslingers can use advanced firearms but do so at a -4 penalty on attack rolls with advanced firearms and when loading an advanced firearm increases all misfire values by 4 for the shots loaded, unless the Gunslinger has the Exotic Weapon Proficiency (advanced firearms) as described below.

Exotic Weapon Proficiency (advanced firearms)
Prerequisite: Gunslinger level 12, must have an advanced firearm in his possession.
Benefit: A Gunslinger can make attack rolls with the weapon normally.
Normal: A Gunslinger who uses an advanced firearm does so at a -4 penalty on attack rolls with advanced firearms and when loading an advanced firearm increases all misfire values by 4 for the shots loaded.
Special: A Gunslinger can gain the Exotic Weapon Proficiency (advanced firearms) as a bonus feat.
