Eladrin

Many millenia ago, one group of Elves began to see their job as caretakers of nature as a distraction from their pursuit of arcane knowledge and power and set out build cities seperating themselves further from their enviroment. When they approached dwarven stonemasons and smiths with their requests, the dwarves refused rebuking them for their abandonedment of their assigned role.

Undeterred, the leader of these Elves, Ildrowasin, encouraged his fellow Elves to ply the Dwarves with magical “persuasion” and as persuasions ceased to be enough they resorted to out and out control. As the abuses increased further, another elder amoung the group, Ileladrani finally rose up in opposition. War erupted and eventually Ildrowasin and his followers driven out and underground.

While Ileladrani released the Dwarves from their magical compulsion, the damage to their relationship with the Elves as a whole, and the Eladrin specifically, was done ensuring a history of hostility between the two groups.

Optional Racial Traits

All Eladrin take the following option racial traits:

Arcane Focus: Some elven families have such long traditions of producing wizards (and other arcane spellcasters) that they raise their children with the assumption each is destined to be a powerful magic-user, with little need for mundane concerns such as skill with weapons. Elves with this racial trait gain a +2 racial bonus on concentration checks made to cast arcane spells defensively. This racial trait replaces weapon familiarity.

Eternal Grudge: Elves with this racial trait grew up in secluded, isolationist communities where generations-old slights and quarrels linger as eternal blood feuds. They receive a +1 bonus on attack rolls against humanoids of the dwarf and orc subtypes due to special training against these hated foes. This racial trait replaces the elven magic racial trait.
