Narvara – The Silent Miasma
The Silent Miasma is affectionate and eager to make new friends in order to shower them with gifts. Even the smallest of perceived slights can start her worrying that the feelings of closeness will be only fleeting and cause her to seek to end the relationship with her poisonous miasma. She kills because she seeks to avoid hurt feelings on either side, not because she is hateful or violent. A whimsical being, Narvara attracts an endless series of companions to her and leaves strangled corpses behind in her wake. She abhors noise, from talking to the clash of swords, and will fill the lungs of those who disturb her serene silence with deadly gases in order to achieve that state.
The student of Narvara gains access to the Charm, Enchant, Sound Lore, Air Lore, Beguile, Fatigue, Obscure, and Slay talents. Any use of talents that runs counter to Narvara’s nature receives a -4 penalty and two extra points of drain.
The Shadow of All Things
The Shadow of All things is the antagonist. He defines himself by opposing others at every opportunity. He is self-indulgent and wholly without conscience but can be trusted to act with enlightened self-interest at all times, making him somewhat more predictable than other Vel’zi as long as others don’t forget his nature. He corrupts and seduces others away from virtue and honor because these concepts are poisonous to him rather than because he wants to enlighten or enslave. He genuinely believes that the universe should be darkened until it approaches his unholy perfection, but his warped magnanimity hides a deeper and greater hatred of all light—literal or metaphoric. The Shadow of All Things is hollow, cobbling together his semblance of identity from lies and copied mannerisms; constantly recreating himself in the image of whatever offends and frightens his adversaries the most. As a self-proclaimed nemesis, he finds greater joy in thwarting the dreams of others than advancing his own agenda.
The student of The Shadow of All things gains access to the Afflict, Charm, Figment, Light Lore, Dispel, Beguile, Fear, Shapeshift, Telepathy, Compel, Obscure, Reflect, and Destroy talents. Any use of talents that runs counter to The Shadow of All Things’ nature receives a -4 penalty and two extra points of drain.
