timar was foremost among the three greatest cities of the Downs of Edigroth during the height of the Mierodranian Empire. Due to the rich luminiad deposits of the Hammodrans surrounding Etimar, and to the city’s close proximity to the Dantalig River, Etimar was once a major hub of trade in the Northern Reaches. The city was second only to Igladan in both wealth and prestige. Etimar was most famous however for containing some of the most wondrous architecture in all the eastern lands. The kingly Halls of Amath Grall were said to be among the greatest wonders of the world since The Sundering. The city was also home to Gulgoloth, one of a handful of great Dwarven rune weapons still known to exist. While the city thrived for nearly eight hundred years, it fell to a legion of Minotaurs led by Xoroc during The Demonspawn Wars. Few escaped the city, and none who stayed survived. The Minotaurs next assaulted Igladon, but were driven back after the death of Xoric, their mighty champion. Having lost their captain, the bovine creatures fled back to the halls of the fallen city, where they have dwelt till this day. Several expeditions to the ruined city have been launched in recent years. Some of the sturdier of these adventuring parties have returned with sacks full of precious luminiad ore and tales of prowling feral minotaurs. Yet no expedition has ever discovered the location of the Halls of Amath Grall, or the rune axe Gulgoloth, Etimar’s most precious treasure.
