Marshes of Edalberith
dalberith is a large stretch of forested marshes. The great Undeglor Cypress that grow in this marshland have developed sturdy roots that dig down deep beneath the water’s surface to drink in the nutrient rich soil below. Edalberith stretches west to the Fenlands of Aduthal, east to the footsteps of the Hammodrans, and south to Andreth Forest. Few traverse this mirthless land, for in it dwell many trolls and other creatures of an even more ancient and unsavory nature. There are also rumors of a sisterhood of witch hags dwelling within the marshes. Yet some venture into the marshes in search of the tomb of Brethedomier, said to contain Imbedreth, one of the five great rune weapons crafted by the Dwarves in the days of Ondroth. Brethedomier was a general of Thangolon during the waning years of Ondroth. After the fall of Ondroth and the death of his king, Brethedomier lost his mind. Soon after, he took his eldest son Ierogol and fled into the marshes of Edalberith. A century later Ierogol emerged from the marshes alone, bringing news of his father’s demise. Ierogol never did, however, reveal the location of the final resting place of his father, and so Imbedreth remains lost.
