Undead who just won't stay dead

July 23, 2009 10:10

The party bravely assaulted the undead in the throne room. The wight managed to drain a little life from Tak before being slaughtered. The boneshard did a tremendous amount of damage when it’s boneshard burst showered the melee-centric party with jagged bits of bone. It’s ongoing necrotic damage served to soften up both Tak and Kloog.

Meanwhile, a gaggle of undead minions assailed Khem. For a robe wearer with only 13 AC he sure takes a lot of punishment. Hafgrim would expect no less from a fellow dwarf! The party quickly discovered the minions were rising from the grave every turn and focused on the tougher wight and the boneshard skeleton hoping killing them would stop the tide of undead. They used the bulk of their daily, encounter, utility, and healing powers slaying these. It was all for naught. Dangerously low on resources whispers of the legendary “TPK” were heard over voice chat. It was a grim finish but our heroes eventually managed to kill the last of the skeletons.

All their effort paid off in the end. Kloog discovered a magic scimitar that was lodged in the ribcage of one of the skeletons and Khem found a bat shaped amulet around the wight’s neck. The group decided Reggie and Tak should end up using these items.

    coming until they're all dead.

Moving on, the party found a half starved boy named Thurann. He was the last of the Brindol prisoners and the son of Kartenix. Reggie’s chat with the boy about his father had some…..omissions. They decided to trudge forward down the last unexplored hallway.

Memorable Moments

Yeah…about your dad….
Khem: Can't be too much foes left and the boy could be
    useful in carrying loot
Thurann: I'm surprised my dad isn't with you. He's
captain of the guard you know!
Khem: Kartenix be your dad?
Thurann: Yeah that's him! I bet he's busy killing
goblins somewhere else in this place right?
Reginald: He wanted to but he had to see to the safety
of the town and left your rescue in our hands.
Reginald: He's protecting the city from other goblin
    attacks
Khem: Errr reggie I believe he be guardng them as a shade
Thurann: I bet he's fending off a whole horde of them!
    Giants too probably!
Scarlett (Kloog): better than telling him the truth n
having an angry, hysterical kid on our hands
Kloog: I am sure he is lad
Reginald: I'm sure he's doing the best he can given the
    circumstances.
Thurann swings an imaginary sword around as though killing
    giants
Reginald nods at Khem
Troy (Khem): nah he gets angry and tak will just smack and
drag him to the door like reggies woman
Scarlett (Kloog): lol
Nick (Reginald): Besides let him cry when it's not our
    problem.
Kloog: onward and upward then!
Troy (Khem): He'll live to grow into a man and seek revenge
    on us later
Nick (Reginald): We could burn him and spread his ashes
over his fathers and say we gave a burial fit for
    a king and a prince!

When they encountered a room full of menhirs, Reggie embraced his inner Halfling and crept ahead of the party. He found himself in a room with a huge coffin and the missing dragoncrested helm. Curiosity got the better of him as he opened the coffin only to find a GIANT skeleton! The skeleton took a few swipes at Reggie as the halfling ran screaming back to the party.
