Emerald Eyes Guild
The Emerald Eyes have existed in Cairnbridge since before the fall of Nerath 300 years ago. Founded by the Crown of Nerath to police magic users of the city it was governed from afar by the Court Wizard of the emperor. With the fall of Nerath the guild gained a great deal of power and influence over the city. The city leaders became dependent on the Eyes for valuable information about threats inside and outside the city.
It was only natural for the Eyes to seize this opportunity and sell knowledge to those who could afford it. Today the guild no longer bothers to police magic users in Cairnbridge and there are many ‘rogues’ who have never entered the its halls. The vast majority of Guild mages are wielders of ritual magic and little more, even most of the upper hierarchy can only manage to channel one or two spells a day. One major exception to this rule is the Guild Master, Kullan the Red.
Fees
The guild charges outsiders for information and/or access to its libraries.
- Library Entrance Fee 50gp
- Scrying 2,500gp
- Consultation rates vary with the guild member sought. The most knowledgeable wizards are very expensive while minor apprentices are not.
- Item enchantment can be done, but due to the rarity of magical items it is usually extremely costly.
- Rituals generally cost at least 20% more than the material cost to actually cast the ritual.
- Guild Membership costs 100gp a year and requires a display of magical ability to obtain. The new guild member then writes his or her name into the Guild Registry and the guild can track their comings and goings and even find a missing member through the magic of the book.
