So since I did so much planning, manipulating, and conspiring the GM has asked that I write today’s adventure log. I’m getting good stuff for it so, WHY NOT!?
You see, it all started when everyone got a strange letter. Some guy comes in, dressed all fancy, and just hands us a letter. There were four of these. Saphric was working in his lab making a couple bouncy balls and a naked leprechaun. Saphric takes his letter and the man just falls to the floor turning to clay, and what does Saphric do? He gathers up the clothing and shrinks them to fit his leprechaun, Spot. Saphric puts the letter aside and continues working. Marzena was asleep as she had a rough night walking the Pattern of all things, and at the moment I don’t remember where Kirie or Syth were when they got theirs. Syth comes into Saphric’s lab, surprised by the naked Spot and asks about the letter. Saphric seems uninterested so Syth leaves, seeing Kirie on the way out. He makes sure to tell Kirie to knock first.
She knocks and Spot answers the door, now dressed. Spot is fairly rude to Kirie and tries to slam the door in her face, but Kirie just holds it open. Spot comes over to Saphric and says it was a dragon lady. At this Saphric calls out and asks if she has any “clothes laying around.” She gives a slightly disgruntled “no.” Spot runs out to the hall calling Steve after seeing Saphric call him to get the clay cleaned up and some clothing washed and says “The dragon lady lies! Brings me clothes!” And this is the beginning to a oh so magical friendship between Steve and Spot.
Kirie asks about the letter so being the second person to ask about it, Saphric opens the letter. Getting the impression all this “uncle” wants is Oberon Saphric figures “why not just give him over?” As long as Random is still king and this person raises the barriers, right? So Saphric discusses this idea with the others, all agreeing. Marzena and Kirie don’t really need any persuasion but Syth wants something for his help. Saphric goes to get him a Spikard from Sand, who is none too happy with Syth so when Saphric mentioned putting a geas on it to keep him loyal (just loyal, not subservient) to make sure he doesn’t betray the group in the event he’s offered a better deal, Sand jumps at the idea. She takes it to some unknown person and gets the geas put on.
Now, first thing is first. Saphric needed to make certain of Uncle’s plans. Make sure revenge was all he wanted and was willing to accept help. This took forever as Saphric thought he knew where to find him but turned out he didn’t. They go to the New New York shadow and Saphric starts waving at “Big Brother” cameras. After 10 minutes someone comes and asks if they can help him. He says he wants to meet the leader of this world and breaks part of a building when asked to prove their identities. This took them to some guy telling everyone to stay calm. Everyone thought they were aliens. Not who they wanted. So they go look at this device that fell out of the sky. It’s like a giant computer thing. They try using the ruby to no avail, then Kirie puts her hands in the gel-like keyboard. The screen asks for a password and make 3 guesses, 3rd time being the charm. “Oberon.” We find out there is a ship and not thinking about it, have it come to us, killing a few hundred people as buildings fall over. (We all have our Gavin moments, right? Right…?)
The inside is a horrid site indeed as there are bodies on the floor, fused to the ship in some way. Saphric can see a ton of life force and announces these people are all still alive. They find the main frame and Marzena starts poking around. Turns out the ship belongs to Oberon, not Osric like they thought. There are some corrupted files so we bring Merlin over to look at it. Wary at first, but once told he can look at anything he wants in the database he practically jumped through the trump.
After getting the corrupted files read and finding out Uncle is Osric, the ship was attacked by Gerard’s men in black armor. While the others went straight for killing, Saphric cast a light spell on one so they couldn’t jump through shadow anymore and pinned him down. He asked who he worked for, having to break both arms, then finally getting the guy to cooperate. He fixed the guy’s arms and the guy took Saphric to meet with Gerard, telling Esquire to prepare a powerful teleport spell just in case (which he should probably tell him he can let go of now that I think about it). Gerard is there arguing with someone he calls Osric. Saphric talks to Osric and finds that he was also the man that gave them to castle. The GM said he’ll take the castle back at some point but that doesn’t work for me in my game. Plus we have the deed. So there. MY castle!
Osric confirms his goal goes no further than revenge and doesn’t care who is on the throne. So after negotiations Osric pulls Saphric aside and tells him how to fix Gerard and Caine. Only problem, probably won’t work on Fiona. Saphric agrees to the conditions and hopes to fix them up right away.
After that he trumps Marzena and calls everyone and their mother. Almost literally. So far they’ve gotten a hold of Alexi, Kannin, Marlene (iffy), Ghostwheel (to disable Oberon’s trumps), Cecily, and Merlin. The elder Amberites that he wants to talk to are in a meeting so it’s not wise to talk to them yet, but so far a very suitable army is being formed.
After getting Ghost’s help Saphric decided to tell Syth about the geas, since that should be enough to keep him on their side. Syth didn’t like it, and even after being told that knowing the Geas was there it wouldn’t work anymore, he still wanted it taken off. Saphric called around and ended up getting Merlin (because the GM is afraid to play Pyris) who referred him to Mandor. Turns out Mandor was the one Sand gave the spikard to to curse it (really? What was Sand doing with Mandor? Weird!). So Mandor had a talk with Syth in private and ends up giving a much better quality spikard (which Saphric actually appreciates) without the geas but an even higher price. Was nice knowing you Syth. I’ll see what I can do to keep you around in the next game.
Now we wait for the meeting to be over and for Eric to talk to Marlene. We’re also getting a list of all the family that is trapped in the ship to use as leverage to bring more family to our side. Who knows, maybe we can get some Chaosites mad about this too! Or this could be where Saphric meets his half-demon lover! Who knows! All that really matters is that we’re all going to die.
