A Time for Pattern

Conspiracy! ~ By Frank

April 29, 2013 00:49

So since I did so much planning, manipulating, and conspiring the GM has asked that I write today’s adventure log. I’m getting good stuff for it so, WHY NOT!?

You see, it all started when everyone got a strange letter. Some guy comes in, dressed all fancy, and just hands us a letter. There were four of these. Saphric was working in his lab making a couple bouncy balls and a naked leprechaun. Saphric takes his letter and the man just falls to the floor turning to clay, and what does Saphric do? He gathers up the clothing and shrinks them to fit his leprechaun, Spot. Saphric puts the letter aside and continues working. Marzena was asleep as she had a rough night walking the Pattern of all things, and at the moment I don’t remember where Kirie or Syth were when they got theirs. Syth comes into Saphric’s lab, surprised by the naked Spot and asks about the letter. Saphric seems uninterested so Syth leaves, seeing Kirie on the way out. He makes sure to tell Kirie to knock first.

She knocks and Spot answers the door, now dressed. Spot is fairly rude to Kirie and tries to slam the door in her face, but Kirie just holds it open. Spot comes over to Saphric and says it was a dragon lady. At this Saphric calls out and asks if she has any “clothes laying around.” She gives a slightly disgruntled “no.” Spot runs out to the hall calling Steve after seeing Saphric call him to get the clay cleaned up and some clothing washed and says “The dragon lady lies! Brings me clothes!” And this is the beginning to a oh so magical friendship between Steve and Spot.

Kirie asks about the letter so being the second person to ask about it, Saphric opens the letter. Getting the impression all this “uncle” wants is Oberon Saphric figures “why not just give him over?” As long as Random is still king and this person raises the barriers, right? So Saphric discusses this idea with the others, all agreeing. Marzena and Kirie don’t really need any persuasion but Syth wants something for his help. Saphric goes to get him a Spikard from Sand, who is none too happy with Syth so when Saphric mentioned putting a geas on it to keep him loyal (just loyal, not subservient) to make sure he doesn’t betray the group in the event he’s offered a better deal, Sand jumps at the idea. She takes it to some unknown person and gets the geas put on.

Now, first thing is first. Saphric needed to make certain of Uncle’s plans. Make sure revenge was all he wanted and was willing to accept help. This took forever as Saphric thought he knew where to find him but turned out he didn’t. They go to the New New York shadow and Saphric starts waving at “Big Brother” cameras. After 10 minutes someone comes and asks if they can help him. He says he wants to meet the leader of this world and breaks part of a building when asked to prove their identities. This took them to some guy telling everyone to stay calm. Everyone thought they were aliens. Not who they wanted. So they go look at this device that fell out of the sky. It’s like a giant computer thing. They try using the ruby to no avail, then Kirie puts her hands in the gel-like keyboard. The screen asks for a password and make 3 guesses, 3rd time being the charm. “Oberon.” We find out there is a ship and not thinking about it, have it come to us, killing a few hundred people as buildings fall over. (We all have our Gavin moments, right? Right…?)

The inside is a horrid site indeed as there are bodies on the floor, fused to the ship in some way. Saphric can see a ton of life force and announces these people are all still alive. They find the main frame and Marzena starts poking around. Turns out the ship belongs to Oberon, not Osric like they thought. There are some corrupted files so we bring Merlin over to look at it. Wary at first, but once told he can look at anything he wants in the database he practically jumped through the trump.

After getting the corrupted files read and finding out Uncle is Osric, the ship was attacked by Gerard’s men in black armor. While the others went straight for killing, Saphric cast a light spell on one so they couldn’t jump through shadow anymore and pinned him down. He asked who he worked for, having to break both arms, then finally getting the guy to cooperate. He fixed the guy’s arms and the guy took Saphric to meet with Gerard, telling Esquire to prepare a powerful teleport spell just in case (which he should probably tell him he can let go of now that I think about it). Gerard is there arguing with someone he calls Osric. Saphric talks to Osric and finds that he was also the man that gave them to castle. The GM said he’ll take the castle back at some point but that doesn’t work for me in my game. Plus we have the deed. So there. MY castle!

Osric confirms his goal goes no further than revenge and doesn’t care who is on the throne. So after negotiations Osric pulls Saphric aside and tells him how to fix Gerard and Caine. Only problem, probably won’t work on Fiona. Saphric agrees to the conditions and hopes to fix them up right away.

After that he trumps Marzena and calls everyone and their mother. Almost literally. So far they’ve gotten a hold of Alexi, Kannin, Marlene (iffy), Ghostwheel (to disable Oberon’s trumps), Cecily, and Merlin. The elder Amberites that he wants to talk to are in a meeting so it’s not wise to talk to them yet, but so far a very suitable army is being formed.

After getting Ghost’s help Saphric decided to tell Syth about the geas, since that should be enough to keep him on their side. Syth didn’t like it, and even after being told that knowing the Geas was there it wouldn’t work anymore, he still wanted it taken off. Saphric called around and ended up getting Merlin (because the GM is afraid to play Pyris) who referred him to Mandor. Turns out Mandor was the one Sand gave the spikard to to curse it (really? What was Sand doing with Mandor? Weird!). So Mandor had a talk with Syth in private and ends up giving a much better quality spikard (which Saphric actually appreciates) without the geas but an even higher price. Was nice knowing you Syth. I’ll see what I can do to keep you around in the next game.

Now we wait for the meeting to be over and for Eric to talk to Marlene. We’re also getting a list of all the family that is trapped in the ship to use as leverage to bring more family to our side. Who knows, maybe we can get some Chaosites mad about this too! Or this could be where Saphric meets his half-demon lover! Who knows! All that really matters is that we’re all going to die.

Everyone travels to the lovely shadow earth.
Starting in France their arrival causes a big scene. They leave quickly.
Arrive in Ireland and come across a tower with large Crystals sticking out of ground.
Get zapped by crystals and then trapped inside.
Using true seeing they see through the illusion and find the crypt.
Syth tries to do things right and investigate before touching, Kirie pushes the coffin open and grabs the gear.
Everyone teleports and this is where things start to not go at all how I had thought they would.
So the corpses start coming back to life but Syth starts giving them lip saying they are individuals so the hive mind of the crypt says fine.
So they arrive at 4 pillars. Marzena goes to the final destination. Saphric fights himself. Kirie fights a dragon with the same powers and Syth fights himself in a diner while drinking coffee.
As expected the group makes short work of themselves by using creative methods. So they get the keys, get the gear and eventually make their way out. The trap collapses causing all of them to be badly damaged by a large electric and chemical explosion.

Saphric acting, (Clearly without thinking to much about it first), quickly, pulls in all the energy he can handle and then some more, and then some more, and then some more to heal everyone in the party to full health.

Well damn. There went that plan. And like deja vu once again Saphric is unconscious on the ground. So with all the healthy Amberites working together and going all out, they make quick work of my guardian. :-(

Syth gets some new weapons, like he needs more, and Avril, Nathan and Alexi were all called via trump to take a look at Saphric. Nathan takes Saphric away. The others return to the Castle.

Kirie calls Sand and Sand acknowledges her as her daughter. Sand promises to tell Pyris about all the crazy happenings going on.

Marzena gets the Sphere out of the Cube that Eliora was looking at. Good times for all.

So now what to do with poor poor Saphric. TBC.

The Pillars Rise

March 12, 2013 02:26

Inside the dark caves the mutilated bodies of Orcs and Trolls litter the floor like seashells on the beach. Syth, badly wounded and exhausted after the battle, looks for a place to rest amongst the carnage. The armor, even though it is tattered and broken, clings to him as if adhered with the finest glues. Eventually he collapses leaving his companions behind as the darkness of his “man coma” overtakes him. Kirie allows Saphric to look over her wounds as she also took many grievous wounds during the battle. Meanwhile Marzena admires her new weapon and thinks up new ways to fight in combat with it. Kirie, having been healed, feels sleep come upon her as she has used a lot of energy between the combat and the sheer quantity of spell casting she had to do. So Saphric uses this opportunity to look at Syth and his armor. Removing the curse on the armor, Saphric is able to heal most of Syth’s wounds.

The rest of the night is fairly uneventful for them. Yet somewhere out in Shadow there is a great ceremony going on. Millions of people and creatures stand around a giant earthen pillar. A woman graced with Elven features walks to the dais in front of the pillar. She pulls from her bag a well crafted harp and some crystals. Her voice silences the masses as her song sweeps over them. Their voices lift as one as they recite the incantation.
Earthen pillar summons
Out in shadow great storms reached out to touch all parts of shadow. What chaos is left in their wake, what cultures destroyed, what created?

Several hours later Kirie wakes up and is a little disturbed by the smell of the room, but more so from the disgusting stench coming from Syth. So seeing the best solution is obviously the most direct one, she gives Syth a bath….. With her breath weapon…. It worked, except for the no soap part, yet it did help. During this time they failed to notice the soft sounds of thunder coming from outside as it was drowned out by Syth’s screaming. What does get their attention however is when the entire ground begins to shake with great force. So Marz, Saphric and Syth return to the castle. Kirie decides however to return to her Father’s side to make sure everyone is okay. She of course arrives in time to take part in another battle. The constructs are wedged between the soldiers of Dio del Sole and the Shadow’s Tower while the Dragon’s are attempting to fight all three. Kirie seeing that the situation is dire calls up Marzena to see if she wants to lend a hand. Readily agreeing, since it will give her an opportunity to try out this new weapon in live combat, Marz comes through. Quickly surveying the situation, she runs off into the fray. Meanwhile, Kirie goes to talk to the guys in white armor in the hopes that she can get them to stop fighting. She does when she figures out that they are only interested in the guys in black armor, she has the dragons fly up to only fight the constructs. Back at the castle, Saphric talks to the guys in white armor. He doesn’t learn very much but he does learn that a storm is coming. After speaking with the guys in white armor, Saphric calls Kirie to find out where she is. Seeing how the static is increasing in the trump, Saphric suggests coming through. Kirie not wanting to leave her family wants to bring them with her. So, Saphric runs outside, Syth follows, and a whole bunch of large dragons appear on the beach.

Syth, deciding that Saphric didn’t learn enough, decides to kidnap one of the escaping soldiers in white armor. Now, at first everyone was against this idea, however, it turned out much later to be a good idea. So when Syth grabs the soldier with his telekinetic abilities, everyone wants nothing to do with it. Saphric tells Kirie to call Marzena since Marzena seems to be left behind a lot lately. If this becomes a trend, there might be some interesting blue books in our future. So Marzena, Saphric and Kirie head into the castle, all to do their own tasks. Leaving Syth all alone on the beach with the “adopted” prisoner. The magic holding the prisoner is strong however. No matter what Syth does the prisoner says he would tell him if he could but he can’t. So Syth takes him to the prison(Which has been cleared out now thanks to Marzena and Kirie).
Free
So lots of torture later, Kirie decides to give Syth a hand with a truth spell. However, they reach the same stumbling block. Kirie decides to trump Saphric to see if maybe Saphric can help. Saphric listens to 3 sides of the story before analyzing the prisoner. Further analysis shows that the “adopted” prisoner is affected by several geas spells. Being frustrated and tired of everything, Saphric says screw it and just embraces the power of the ring. With Esquire’s knowledge and expertise they make quick work of the spells that are upon the “adopted” man.

Not really caring what could be found out from the prisoner, Saphric say’s he is going to his room, telling Syth that he will take care of the armor when he is ready for it to be taken off. Saphric leaves, Syth thinks for a moment and follows behind (Saphric removes the curse in his room). Leaving the prisoner with Kirie. This poor man has just been passed around like a bad disease. So Kirie decides to get him a room and ask him some basic questions. Which leads her to find out that his name is Caine and he is named after his God. So Kirie not really knowing the reaction this would receive goes to ask Saphric if the name Caine is important. Several explosions later, she receives the answer, Yes, it is important. Saphric calls Obere to try and get some clarification. Finds out Cain and Gerard have not been seen since Amber fell. Seeing how the shadow storm is approaching here, he asks if they can return to the tower for a bit. Kirie runs around to gather her family. Eventually they remember Marzena again, but they do leave Eliora. So back in the tower, Saphric willing and quickly gives up Caine to Obere. Obere however is not sure who he wants to study more. Saphric has been using the ring a lot lately and is glowing brightly with runes. Saphric gets out as soon as he can. While he is heading to his room, Marzena stops him and asks him if he knows anyone that signs their names with a Theta. Kirie talks to Avril about learning how to make trumps.

If I forgot anything, in either section please feel free to add it.

Important Discoveries:
Caine and Gerard have not been seen since Amber’s fall.
Caine could possibly be a Ruler of the guys in White Armor and the stranger that Syth “Adopted” is named after him.
Caine is left with Obere.
Fiona appears to be trapped somewhere.
Guardian was protecting a Holy Relic that is somehow connected to the Pillars.
Saphric has a strange Cube that he is not sure what to do with. Obere suggested taking it back to the barriers.

Surprise Session: Tir-na Nog'th

November 14, 2012 19:21

Surprise Session!

Covered in runes, angry and confused, Saphric paces around the barrier and the campsite keeping his watch. He speaks as calmly as he can with Esquire yet he is still brimming with emotions. Eventually he calms down some and learns a few things about Esquire. He wakes Syth to take his watch and then rests. Sweet Dreams Saphric, sweet Dreams!

Syth’s watch is uneventful, yet that is probably exciting after all the adventure they recently had. He wakes Ophelia from a distance, smart move Syth, smart move. Ophelia stands her watch bravely, however, poor Ophelia has never had to stand watch before. Kirie was extremely kind to wake up with her and show her how things go when it is someone’s responsibility to keep watch. Ophelia then goes to sleep as Kirie takes her last watch.

So everyone, except for Saphric, wakes up as the sun begins to rise over the Forest Arden. They start with breakfast and wait for Saphric to get up. Several hours later Saphric is still out like a log. So the group starts to freak out some. Things get very interesting from here on out.

Kirie and Syth both attempt to wake Saphric, but to no avail. With no better option, they ut Saphric on Kirie’s back and continue on. They soon come to the final barrier. Kirie makes Ophelia try to get through it by putting her hand on it like at the first barrier. This barrier, however, feels like a solid wall. Syth and Kirie also put their hand on the barrier. For them, the barrier begins to hum, but they are still unable to get through. Clearly they need some help. Syth trumps his buddy Alexander, bringing him through before Alexander has a chance to grab any supplies. Kirie throws dirt and water on both of them. Alexander immediately feels better, but Syth is in more pain until Kirie reverses the treatment. At the sound of them screaming in pain, however, Ophelia’s already stressed out mind loses it, and Marzena takes over. ~C

Will update more. Feel free to add to journal. I’ll give some points.

Mind our Manners: Travel through Shadow

October 25, 2012 02:00

Our story continues with our adventurers deep inside the FIALKOW Tower. The adventurers have split up to prepare for their journey, which means they are cramming as much information into their brains as they can before they get evicted! Dr. Saphric is deep in study; learning the anatomy of dragons, studying the computer database, and comparing research notes. Kirie is learning that there is more to her breath weapons than she assumed. It will be a long process, yet over time she will learn that there is much she can gain from expanding her magic. She headed to the training fields to practice with her new magic. After training most of the day she eventually headed back to the Tower. Upon her return she wished to acquire a magic item that would help her with her spells. So she asked around and eventually met a “kind and caring” individual, Also Known as Jasra, who was willing to make the item she requested. Ophelia took this time to rest and enjoy the free time before things got crazy. She did run into a few strange people, however her time was mostly uneventful.

I must say the one to be concerned about is Syth. Syth decides to rest the remainder of the day. The next morning he contacts his new “friend”, Mr. Alexander. Syth is seeking more information on who destroyed Amber. He took his chances with the God of Secrets and His Son but, they demand a lot for the information that he wants. He knows that “Idiot” is somehow responsible for the destruction of Amber. So trying to remain on Alexander’s good side, he offers to do a job for cold hard cash. Which is a strange request yet one that is easily filled. He was given a task to take out a guard in a warehouse here on New Oberon. Mr. Alexander handed him a trump and asked for the man and a dagger he was protecting in the warehouse. Syth arrives early in the morning and survey’s the landscape. He spends the whole day there and decides to enter the warehouse at night. Trying to get more information he uses his telekenisis to drive the first guard into the wall. As soon as he gets his wind back he starts screaming his head off. Syth tries to reason with him but the guard keeps screaming. He takes out the guard and then quickly dispatches the other 4 with his daggers. It did not take long to locate the dagger and contact Mr. Alexander. Syth was kind enough to turn over his reward to his side kick Ezio who really needed a little bit of cash to replace his pink armor. Hard to be a good assassin with bright pink armor.

The next morning everyone finds a letter under their door, EVICTION TIME! Well not quite yet, they really have till noon. So Kirie decides to take this opportunity to get a few trumps made. So she heads over to Ophelia’s room to make a request. Ophelia and Kirie have a nice morning together while Ophelia works on her trumps. Saphric finishes up his morning routine and sends out a letter to everyone. Syth just enjoys the fine comforts of his room before having to meet the others. Eventually they all arrive at the landing zone. They begin discussing where to go when their letters start beeping at them. They sure do take this eviction stuff seriously here. So they all hop into a shuttle that will take them to the edge of shadow. The conversation inside the shuttle is calm and subdued. Saphric brings the pattern to mind in hopes of finding fast horses when they land. Kirie changes her shape into a full dragon so Ophelia can ride upon her back. Finally our “Heros” set off on their first adventure together, to prove they deserve to be Amberites!

They travel for sever days without any issues until they reach the first Barrier. Saphric feels it before he reaches it as it disrupts his ability to shift pattern through it. Debating how to pass it, Saphric remembers that Random had went through these Barriers since he attempted to get to Amber. Sadly, Random was next to no help, as he tells Saphric is the only way he could find was the painful way. No jokes, he is deathly serious. The only helpful bit he gleamed from Random was that it feels similar to passing through the first barrier of the pattern. So, Saphric, in an attempt to be helpful tells the others to not stop no matter what happens. So Kirie makes the first attempt. In her huge dragon form the Barrier glows a soft green as her horns hit the edge of the barrier. As she makes contact with her skin, the green dust of the barrier burns her skin with fierce chemical energy. She rushes through the barrier as quick as she can and the burning increases! As she reaches the other side she tries to get rid of the burning sensation by creating water above her to wash away the dust. However, this had a horrible side effect of creating an even worse chemical reaction.

Saphric opens up his magic sight to try and figure out what is going on. The barrier glows a greenish color and is full of magic that is infused with pattern. As he tries to figure out what is going on, he hears a soft feminine voice behind him, Ophelia, quietly say, “Dirt, Try Dirt.” Saphric stops for a moment and yells out, “Use dirt Kirie!” So Kirie rolls around in the mud and dirt and eventually the burning sensation stops. Saphric decides to be proactive so he rolls around in the dirt before running through the barrier, it was a great theory. Not so great in practice. However, rolling around once the burning chemical dust was off of him, was very successful. Syth observed all of this with his cool and calm demeanor. Taking it all in, he rose up into the air and used flew through the barrier. The pain towards the end of the barrier causes him to lose his concentration so he ends up rolling through the other end of the barrier. However, this had an unexpected bonus of removing the dust off of him rather quickly.

Meanwhile, Ophelia was starting to freak out a little as she was supposed to go next. She approaches the barrier and places her hand upon it. Her hand begins to glow as she speaks some old sounding language and sends a pulse through the barrier. A section of the barrier dissapears and she walks through it. She comes through to the other side looking confused as she has no clue how she got past the first barrier. Well they successfully made it through the barrier, but there are some strange things going on for sure. As they congratulate themselves on their triumph, a fierce howl cuts through the air. Out from the trees appear three cyber wolf scorpion creatures. <insert>. Syth takes out his sord and swipes two of them to pieces. Tiffany sets some of them on fire. Ophelia curls into a little ball behind Kirie. Saphric waits till one gets close and then gives it a new eye socket as he punches one in the face. He rips off the machine gun attached to it and fills the other one full of holes.

As the Hero’s evaluate each other and make sure no one took any more wounds, 25 more appear on the ridge and charge. Kirie takes out the most with her electric bolts that wound and destroy many in succession. Syth is able to slam the strange wolves into each other and slice some of them with his sord. Saphric not wanting to stay around here finds some fast horses as Ophelia attaches the Gattling Guns to Kirie’s back. Just in time as strange birds appear in the distance. Syth quickly gets out of the way as two rockets blast his horse into a million little pieces. Kirie takes off quickly and Ophelia decides to join the fight. Saphric grabs Syth and pulls him onto their horse. The birds, <insert>, approach quickly, however Ophelia quickly takes them out with her guns. This however creates a new problem for Saphric and Syth, large metal brids fall from the sky, many landing near them. Saphric starts to lead them through shadow as a new threat arrives. New metal “Birds”, <insert>, however Ophelia and Kirie are able to keep them away. As they continue to work their way towards Amber and away from that other Shadow, they eventually find themselves at another barrier.

Eventually Saphric calls for a stop as they have reached another barrier. This time, after Ophelia successful navigated the other one, they tell her to go up and touch this one. Her hand gets cold so she rubs them to warm them up and now both are cold. So they try dirt and that made it worse. So they try fire and that also made it worse, so they used water and surprisingly that worked well. So Saphric goes through first and then douses himself in water. Ophelia climbs onto Kirie’s back. Kirie fly’s through but at the last moment before she reaches the barrier Ophelia jumps off the back of her, back flips off, and slowly glides to the ground. She is left feeling confused as she thought she was going to fly through with Kirie. Unsure of what is going on she trumps Saphric. Saphric tries to pull her through and that didn’t go so well. The barrier extends into the trumps.

So Saphric calls Klarin. They have a very interesting conversation and things get interesting as there is a little miss communication. He puts on the ring seeing no other choices. His whole body begins to glow with soft off white runes. Around his finger the ring burns small runes into his finger. He holds up his hand and feels himself muttering in some strange language. His hands light up and the guardian barrier shutters and then a section of it disappears. Ophelia walks through and the section re-appears. Ophelia starts freaking out about Saphric’s appearance and how upset he is. Even the ring is like how rude and disappears. So Saphric casts calm on himself, tells the ring to come back to his hand, which it does, and apologizes to everyone for being stressed out. He did just upset a lot of important people though.

Our party finds themselves in the Forest Arden. Saphric offers to take first watch so the others can rest after their long journey.

Day of the Summons

September 30, 2012 20:33

Day of the Summons:

Our story today begins with Syth Alderon, Protector of Amberites. The streets of Ohochia are quiet today as the Black Rose Assassins conduct their normal business. Syth, having to run the guild since his father’s departure, questions what he needs to do that day. While pondering and getting some fresh air, a letter arrived for him in the most peculiar manner. His guards not wanting to touch the letter,(Now it should be noted that it appeared out of nowhere), that was secured to the table with a knife. Being a little upset at his guards, and a little shaken up himself, Syth quickly opened the <letter>.

Unsure of what he was being summoned for Syth decided to head out to find more information. So he searched for some contacts and found one that the guild knows from House Cypher. His father was always the one that dealt with House Cypher before so the conversation did start a little awkward but soon progressed down to business. Syth had to lure out a lower level Chaosite and assassinate him. So using the best approach he could think of, he simply trumped the guy and said, “Come met me and I’ll call off the assassins.” Now one would wonder, “How on earth could anyone fall for such a ‘clever’ ruse?” I am not sure, but I can tell you that this man was tired of running and was willing to take the chance.

So Syth stayed in a nearby restaurant and pondered what to do while his mark walked calmly to the back alley. Perhaps he took to long or perhaps he didn’t take long enough, but when he went to the alley to talk to the man, the other assassins had already taken care of the job. Not one to pass up an opportunity, he quickly called the gentleman from House Cypher and arranged for an exchange of the corpse for the information. All he had to do was come eat lunch. I wonder how long his luck would hold out. (Not foreshadowing at all here, really, I promise?) His contact informed him that the person he needed to seek was a man called Idiot and he was responsible for the destruction of Amber. So, Syth begins to investigate and remembers that Nathan might know more. As he pulls out Nathan’s Trump he notices that it has an odd feeling to it. It leaves a tingling sensation in his hand as he handles it. Eventually he decides to try and create a trump contact. As he does the room around him appears to change and Nathan stand before him.

Nathan and Syth talk for a bit until Syth finally mentions that he is looking for Idiot. Nathan tells Syth that he can send him to a co-operative Idiot or the Real Idiot. All Syth has to do is pay the price. So Syth decides on the co-operative Idiot first. Well the co-operative Idiot is co-operative. He just doesn’t remember why he is on this Island and doesn’t know anything about Amber. So Syth, who is now frustrated, Trumps Nathan again. This time he demands to see the real Idiot. So that is how Syth ended up trapped in the Abyss. (See I told you he was going to keep his luck and no bad foreshadowing!) Syth was finally able to meet the real Gavin, AKA Idiot, and find out that he was indeed responsible for the destruction of Amber. However, he only set the ball in motion and was used badly. Syth wanted to leave after finding this out but couldn’t figure out how to get out of the Abyss.

Meanwhile:

Kirie, is enjoying her last moments on her shadow. Her Father is throwing a big feast for her. She also just found out some surprising news, that her mother is alive and is out in shadow somewhere. She was warned to be careful as her Mothers family brings much pain and destruction. Her Mother had tried to shield her as much as she could but she could not stop the <letter> from Bill Roth. She could not stop the summons and the Journey that Kirie would have to undertake to claim her heritage or be a victim of it.

Over on the Shadow New Oberon:

Ophelia and Saphric are enjoying their last few days in the Tower. Ophelia is still having trouble adjusting to her new position in life. The lessons on Trump Artistry from Fiona and the Creature from Jessith have been keeping her relatively calm. However paranoia and a childhood full of abuse makes it hard to trust anyone. A good trait to have here in the current home of Amber and the Courts. Saphric has been doing a good job respecting her needs, so he has been giving her some space. He even helped her get some self defense courses. They have both been making the rounds and finding out some interesting things about what has been going on. (Amber and the courts have been destroyed. Random is being punished for losing Obereon’s castle. Last but not least, there is something very interesting about Ophelia’s lineage that has certain Amberite’s feathers ruffled.)

However, all good things must eventually come to an end. The day of the Summons is on hand so Ophelia and Saphric make their way to the court room. A lone guard stands at the entrance and ushers them in. Upon the bench sits, Obereon, Bill Roth, and Merlin. He calls the court to order and proceeds to take out two trumps. From the first, with the help of Merlin, he pulls through Syth, who is promptly told to wait a moment and stand over there. Realizing that he is in the presence of important Amberites, he quietly does as he is told. Next, Oberon pulls through Kirie. Kirie is a special case, for you see, she is part Dragon. So when she was pulled through she was a little larger than the rest of the party. Seeing this she used her shape shifting ability, (yes you will read this correctly), to shrink herself. (Awesome right?)

Now everyone in the room raises an eyebrow at this strange woman who just shrank herself but business must continue no matter who is here. Oberon then tells our adventures that they are going to have to restore Amber to prove to him they deserve to remain Amberites. Now this is a lot to take in for an experienced Amberite, so poor Ophelia and Kirie are a little overwhelmed. This is not Obereon’s first rodeo however, he has already sent out several groups of people on this same mission. So in comes Fiona with a packet of information. She politely hands it to Kirie and Ophelia, doesn’t give one to Saphric, and gives Syth’s to his sidekick, cause we all know Syth isn’t going to bother reading all that information. Kirie is overwhelmed by the amount of information but Syth and Saphric promise to help her through it. That is until they both have a face palm moment when Kirie responds to the question, “What type of technology do you have on your shadow?” with the answer, “Magic. What else is there?” Wanting to test their skills they head to the training grounds.

Now comes the fun part, surprise surprise, Kirie can turn into a huge sized dragon…… (Yeah, that just happened. Not Medium, Not Large, HUGE). Well Saphric and Kirie get to sparring. It was painful for both of them. It was supposed to be a “friendly” spar but by the end of it they both seemed to be in a lot of pain. Kirie only tried to poison Saphric with large volumes of gas and Saphric only ripped off one of Kirie’s spikes. What a “friendly” spar. They return to the Tower and have two days before they are exiled! Kirie learns about trumps and a little bit about sorcery from Fiona. Ophelia gets praised for her hard work from Fiona and also gets a surprise visitor. Saphric learns about some family secrets and receives a letter from an old friend. Syth does what Syth does best, (Still not sure what that is but I am sure I will find out next session.)
