Campaign Black starts on the continent Valaria (Locations:Continents). Within the land of Valaria, villages and cities are the “Points of Light”. Much darkness exists between theses cities where the light of civilization cannot penetrate.
Between the pockets of civilization there is danger at every turn and the laws of man don’t hold sway. Travel is restricted only to those brave souls that are willing to leave the relative safety of cites and villages. Even those brave enough to venture into the dark regions of the world rarely do so alone. Even in groups, travelers are constantly faced with the prospect of confronting roving bandits and infestations of goblins (enemies), or worse. Even inside cities and townships people must be on guard against the occasional goblin or bandit raids. Only the alert and diligent survive in this land.
The inhabitants of Valaria are a tenacious sort who do their best to prosper under the constant adversity of their land. Given the hardships they face most have adapted a quasi-military mindset. They pursue many crafts and trades, but few show hesitation to bare arms when under threat. As such, there is a ready supply of those hardy people who take up the life of a adventurer or a mercenary. All goods that travel by ship, wagon or cart are always under some form of guard regardless of their proximity to cities or villages.
