The night was extremely warm for this time of year at Port Peril and the fog had began to drift in early. We begin our tale in a tavern on the docks known as Formidably Maid which is notorious for it’s rowdy patrons and nightly brawls.
Tonight though the tavern is kept subdued by the great comedic performance of a gnome known as Rumple Flutewater. Although some of Rumple’s remarks were in regards of a few of the unseemly audience they treated him to a few rounds of ale and 20 silver pieces. The booze begins to hit Rumple pretty good after the third round though, and Rumple gets stuffed into a sack as he passes out before he can make it to the end of the alley to his room.
In a shady corner of the main room a half elf by the name of Kyras Oakfist is successfully bartering with an old man for information on an ancient relic that ogres stole from his brotherhood many years ago. Even though it was hard to hear the man over the laughter in the room he was close to getting what he needed, but before he can get the map the old man promised Kyras passes out finishing his second drink.
Esme had heard great tales of life living on the sea through her years and she had come to Port Peril after hearing ship’s Captains were looking for wizards. For some reason tonight Esme had decided to to head to Formidably Maid for dinner. As she wanders through the tavern she runs into a man named Rurik Holderhek who is also looking for a ship in need of a crew. They figure their odds are better if they team up and hear about a trade ship called the Lonesome Dove are hiring. As they leave the tavern they notice the same gnome comedian they just listened to through the night being stuffed into a sack. Esme is just about to cast a spell when she’s startled by Rurik slumping forward with another man standing behind him with a sap in his hand. Arms reach out from behind her to wrestle her to the ground and is tied up.
Six months at sea had been rough on Eugeni, and he was glad to be back in port. He had promised the lads he’d meet them at the closest tavern for a couple of rounds and perhaps pick up a wench or two if his luck changed. As he rounds the corner Eugeni runs into a man carrying a tied up and gagged blonde elven woman. Before he can spring into action things go black just as he sees the pommel of a sword with a fist wrapped around it connect with his face.
Heron and Hadriel Bludhawk had known each other since they were lads and both knew they were destined to be famous pirates on the high seas. Growing up in Port Peril was an adventure in itself that only fueled their beliefs. Heron became a well known swordsman and Hadriel became good at the shadier side of the trade. Tonight they headed to the Formidably Maid to celebrate and boast about the success of their latest adventure. As they talked up the ladies they were currently entertaining and sharing drinks with they both begin to hallucinate, slur their words, feel numb, and can’t stand up straight. When the both look at each other and laugh they slump into the arms of their respective lady friends (who quickly drop them) and pass out.
