ighty years after the Cataclysm destroyed Paradise and brought the world to the brink of destruction, in the last remaining corner of the world, the Mouse Guard ensures the lives of the mice who still live in the mouseholds of the Black Forest. Threatened by weather, wilderness, animals and even other mice, by the weasel kingdom of Waelingas to the south—but most of all, by the loss of hope from those who fear that the Cataclysm will one day return to finish what it started—the Mouse Guard dedicate their lives, and defy their own Nature, to stand heroically for the greater good, and to inspire their people with cause for hope.
