“The Gift” quite frankly is exactly what it seems. It is the ability to channel one’s own Essence and with enough time and training perhaps the Essence of others and the surrounding environment. The Gift in and of itself comes with no particular abilities, though it is possible to have a natural affinity for the capabilities that The Gift unlocks.
