Assassin in the Night

April 22, 2010 05:27

The story begins with our party at their graduation ceremony. They have completed 11 long years at the tops of their classes and returned home to a warm welcome and banquet in their favor. The celebrations lasted three days, but on the last night, things began to take a turn for the worse. Alathuan D’voir returned home, exhausted from the revelry, just in time. Upon entering his home, he heard a crash upstairs and ran to investigate, interrupting an assassin trying to kill his father, Areon D’voir. After chasing him out the window, his three days of partying caught up to him and he was unable to track down the would-be killer.

The following morning Alathuan D’voir met with the rest of the party and presented what happened before the Council of Elders. They were asked to investigate the matter officially and began their first fact finding mission in The Devil’s Club, a seedy bar in the slums. Alathuan D’voir chatted up the madam for information, while Mathas set themselves up for a trap by the thieves guild. Thinking he would try to set up a meeting to trap the thieves, he set themselves up instead.

That night, when the party went to their “meeting” with the thieves guild, Jack was ready and waiting for them. Luckily the party was able to defeat the thieves and capture Jack. The only information they were able to get out of him was that he received a contract and payment with Areon D’voir’s name on it, signed by “G”. The session ends with Jack being thrown in jail, the party heading back to their homes, and the city guard cleaning up the remaining thieves at the guild house.

Death of Barakas

January 10, 2010 03:20

151 AE – A messenger arrives at the weapons training classroom and calls for the son of Barakas. Garr is called out to the principal’s office to receive some rather bad news. Barakas was out walking late one night (which is rather odd in itself) and he was accosted by several muggers it seems. He was tragically stabbed to death in the process. Unfortunately, in a town the size of Highmoor this isn’t all that uncommon of an occurrence, however, the fact that it happened near the Council Circle, and to Barakas, who was an accomplished adventurer before taking a position on the council of elders, leads some to believe that this wasn’t just random.

Death of Callie

January 10, 2010 03:16

149 AE – A messenger rushes into the general education classroom and Callie’s son is hurried into the Headmaster’s office. Unfortunately, Mathas’s home had been burned down, and Callie was killed in the conflagration. The strange thing is that Callie’s body was found still in her bed, as if no attempt had been made to escape the flames. The cause of the fire seems to have been a blocked chimney, causing the wood stove to burst open, spreading ash and coals into the house.

Death of Anastrianna

January 10, 2010 03:04

In the year 141 AE, Anastrianna dies of an apparent heart attack. No foul play is suspected, though all are surprised. Garreth is chosen as the new leader of the council of elders, and Rurik chooses Sordar to replace Anastrianna.
