The orbital period of Tiengong is much longer than that of Terra – one Tiengong year is equivalent to 26 Terran years. Seasons on the planet last much longer as well. In essence, the calendar is divided into a Warm Cycle, and a Cold Cycle, corresponding to Summer and Winter, while the other two seasons are a shorter transition period at the end/beginning of each cycle.
In Terran time, the seasons range thus:
- Winter – 11 T-years
- Spring – 2 T-years
- Summer – 11 T-years
- Autumn – 2 T-years
The hours of daylight by latitude:
Keep in mind that 1 hour on Tiengong is 7.1 Terran hours long. One 24 hour day on Tiengong is 170 Terran hours. When determining Tiengong weather conditions, use Terran hours as the standard rule for duration of effects, hence, one Tiengong day is divided into 7 weather periods.
Select a zone to determine daily weather:
Tiengong Arctic Weather
Tiengong Subarctic Weather
Tiengong Temperate Weather
Tiengong Subtropical Weather
Tiengong Tropical Weather
The tables listing the daily weather variations feature terrain corresponds to the following image. Note that the Tiengong year is long enough that the entire environment of the planet changes with the cycles. The polar regions expand and contract to a much greater degree than on Terra. All of the temperature zones vary as well, making life much more varied than on earth. A great many scientists dwell on Tiengong, specifically to study the changes occurring to plant and animal species with the changes in planetary variation on an enhanced scale.
