Carter Elementary is home to about 300 kids. The school is a large stone building, perhaps 40 or 50 years old. Behind the school is a large field and playground, and in front a garden with bushes, trees and park benches. It’s really lovely looking, actually.

The school serves most of the town, with only a few kids attending Legrasse Academy afterwards. After grade five, most people end up at West Memorial Middle and High School.

There have been some budget cuts recently, which have hurt the school. Kids are sharing textbooks, and things are falling apart without being replaced.
