At dusk the night before Laalarash and his caravan were to leave Gorgoreth’s outpost, a host of elves caught the outpost unprepared in a savage assault. The caravan’s mekillot was killed, both guard towers were toppled, and many more defenders were killed or wounded than elven attackers. The elves asked for nothing, but disappeared in the dark of the night. Other attacks followed at dawn, the next dusk, the following dawn, and again on the third night of dusk. It was in that fifth battle that Raele chose to capture one of his opponents for questioning.
