I have decided to use far fewer names and dates than a journal would normally require. The reasoning is simple; I find myself in a position where the information I write here may be of danger to some of the new acquaintances I have made.
I have a job, of sorts; if nothing else, I have a very nice place to rest my head and good company to do it with. I also have a reason to train, and not in a military manner. The foes I am likely to face are not soldiers, but creatures. They will not adhere to rules or procedures. They harm the innocent and vile alike, and do so with a reckless disregard for human life.
I must hone myself to be a weapon again. Unlike the last time I went to war, this time I can do so on my terms. I can be a weapon as my people were in ages past. My only hope is that I can live long enough to avenge my friend ‘the Professor’ and help my new comrades in their mission.
I fear not the darkness, I fear not death. I only fear living a life unfulfilled.
