For as long as it has been part of Vulcanica’s shared history, the region known as the Southlands has never been anything other than a sprawling battleground for several dozen warlike tribes and clans. About six years ago, however, a warlord known as Gad Wavomba led the people of the Ixkar tribe on a campaign of conquest, and succeeded in vanquishing and subjugating all the other tribes, before marching on Trada. Today, King Wavomba rules over the Southlands with an iron fist, silencing opposition and dissent with quick and brutal violence. Though many other leaders were reluctant to acknowledge the sovereignty of “the blood king” (as he is known among his people), it was impossible for even his most outspoken critics to deny the power he wields.
