Aglaophotis
A reddish powder derived from a rare plant grown outside of Jerusalem. When consumed, it causes the body and soul to enter a state of crisis, causing the imbiber to enter a state in which they are closer to death than the average individual and yet still very much alive.
Consuming an ounce of aglaophotis causes the individual to take 1d4 Constitution and 1d4 Charisma damage, but it grants them 4 temporary ranks in all their learned revelations. These ranks gained can go beyond the normal level limit on ranks permitted, allowing the individual to become very powerful indeed. One minute after consumption, the consumer must make a Fortitude save against a DC of 20 or suffer another 1d4 Constitution and 1d4 Charisma damage.
Aglaophotis is a mystical narcotic produced by members of the Estate under the sanction of COGITO. It is used only when absolutely necessary, because of its severe toxicity. While under the effects of the substance, an individual experiences extreme euphoria and gains a sum of spiritual power beyond their normal limits. It is highly addictive if used regularly, and can very easily lead to death or a coma. Because of this, it is carefully controlled.
