Whitesalt Powder

Whitesalt is a certain type of blessed salt mined from the hills outside of Megiddo, Israel. When combined with alchemically synthesized elements such as lead, it can be powdered into a mystical substance that can compel spirits and weaken magick.

Whitesalt powder can be used as a means of defending against ghosts. When thrown into the air, any ghost caught within a cloud of whitesalt powder is forcibly manifested for 1d4 rounds. During this time, they are shaken and take a -2 penalty to all checks. A ghost can only be effected by whitesalt powder in this way once per day.

Another use for whitesalt powder is to create a circle against magick and other arcane powers. By creating a perfect circle of the powder, anyone standing within the interior gains a +8 bonus to all saves against spells and spell-like abilities, and gains a new saving throw against any ongoing conditions caused by a magical source at the beginning of each round. This effect continues until the circle is broken.

Whitesalt powder is difficult to create, so members are only issued one packet of the powder (containing 4 ounces of the dust, enough to create one circle or create a 10 by 10 cloud) each month. Additional packets can be bartered, but usually are only granted in cases of extreme necessity.
