Will
The Will is a complex system of supernatural esoteric truths and mystical compulsions devised to maintain the laws of the universe and the many various outcomes of free will. In the early days of creation, this duty was overseen directly by God himself, but after the coming of the Logos, God rescinded from his creation and left behind the Will in his stead.
The Will is not a sentient entity, but it does possess a certain intelligence and a spirit that allows it to adapt itself as it sees fit. However, as it lacks true sentience, it cannot correct issues that arise within the framework of its domain- i.e. the universe- and this can lead to some serious repercussions.
The Will is a controversial subject in the spiritual realm. None would argue that it does not play a vital role, as it is the force that legislates universal law. However, while many see it as a way to salvation, a means of pleasing God and finding one’s true purpose, many others see it as a cruel arbitration meant to punish those with free will unduly for using their gift as they see fit.
Because of this, the existence of Will is at the center of the debate between Heaven and Hell. Heaven would see that all spirits work together towards upholding the Will to the letter of the law, while Hell would rather it be torn down before it would allow such an impersonal system to deem what is and isn’t appropriate in creation.
Heaven realizes that the Will has a propensity towards coldness and cruelty, just as Hell realizes that a current world without Will would implode upon itself in fire and ruin. Both sides see this as an necessary consequence, causing much unrest for those caught in the middle.
The Will cannot be directed by usual methods, but some beings can interface with it, able to make use of its systematic structure to orchestrate great operations. In Heaven, the Archangel and Regent Butator operates the complex Enochian structure known as the Omniscient System, which acts as an emulator for God’s consciousness and allows him to view the dictations of Will in order to better plan out Heaven’s acts of predestination. Meanwhile, in Hell, it is said Lucifer can view the machinations of Will with great ease, but due to his current state, these findings much be communicated through the often unreliable medium of dreams.
