Abyss
THE INFINITE LAYERS OF THE ABYSS
The cosmic embodiment of Chaos and Evil, the Abyss is composed of uncountable layers, each reflecting a different aspect of immoral depravity.
The Abyss is ruled by the tanar’ri, demons locked in an eternal Blood War with the baatezu. Other species of demon are rumored to exist.
The first layer, the Plain of Infinite Portals, can be reached from the Outlands gate-town of Plague-Mort. It also borders Carceri, Pandemonium, and the Astral Plane. Though the Plain could scarcely be called “hospitable,” it is less hostile to planewalkers than most other known layers. Also called the Palace of 1,001 Closets, some mistakenly believe the Plain to be the domain of Pazuzu, whose aspect our heroes encountered in Plague-Mort.
Our heroes visited the 66th layer of the Abyss, the Demonweb Pits, in search of Tulio.
Kalisa once served Malcanthet, Lord of Shendilavri, the 570th layer.
Tylaric Stormwing went insane in the Abyss, and once knew the names of many Abyssal Lords, including Adimarchus, Baphomet, Juiblex, Pale Night, and Zuggtmoy.
