The first of the Nine Hells of Baator borders the Outlands, Gehenna, Acheron, and the Astral Plane.
The armies of the Nine Hells muster here for deployment in the Blood War. The ruler of this layer, Bel, usurped his title from his predecessor, Zariel. He now holds court in the Bronze Citadel.
Sheen, Talan, and Joris escaped this place after learning the location of a portal to Sigil from the Pillar of Skulls.
Passage to the Second Pit, Dis, can be found in the Cave of Greed, Tiamat’s lair.
