My favorite espionage writers are Frederick Forsyth, John le Carré, and Graham Greene; of particular use to me in preparing Cold Warriors were Forsyth’s The Dogs of War and The Deceiver, le Carré’s The Night Manager, and Greene’s The Quiet American.

Films

To get the feel of the Third World in the Cold War, the films which most strongly influenced Cold Warriors include The Quiet American, The Dogs of War, The Wild Geese, Topaz, Charlie Wilson’s War, and Lord of War.
