Smriti
Mahant Smriti Saudagar is a monk from the Monastery of Medicine Mountian in Kushar. Her height and small stature mean that many tend to overlook and dismiss her. But she is well trained in both martial and diplomatic arts. She is the daughter of merchants with large family who she left when she was 16 to join the sisters. For 10 years at the monastery she studied and and learned the faith and ways of Boddoism. She found a home at the monastery, spent many happy hours in practice of the martial arts, and showed quite a aptitude for them. At one point she was called into the Grand-master’s study and sent out into the world. She was told that she was meant to leave the sisters for a time and make an impact on the world. That is when Smriti took the silk road out of town and began her journey that would take her further than she ever could have imagined. At one point in her journey she came across the lamp that would curse her to live out of her time, but allow her to become a part of this new journey. Smriti has a birthmark on her forearam of the triratna. She carries her Vajras as a constant link to her past and her faith, as well as potent weapons that have served her well.

Sonoda Kumori
Kumori is the direct line descendant of Minamoto Yoshitsune, the great hero of the Gempei War. On the day of his manhood ceremony, the shrine priest received a vision from Hachiman in which Kumori stood over the crumpled, headless body of the undead shogun Taira Kiyomori. On his nineteenth birthday, he left Kaidan in the company of his kinsmen hunting after the key to defeating the Taira bakufu. Somewhere along the way during their travels, one of his companions purchased the Lamp of Abu Al Mubarak in a marketplace in Bagharid on a lark, not realizing the impact it would have on their collective fate.

Kumori was dragged into the lamp during a battle with giants in the mountains of Marak-Dün whilst seeking clues in their quest. He spent a decade in the impossible palace, and returned to the world to find that a thousand years had passed. He has determined that his imprisonment in the lamp was the work of Fate, and that it transported him into the future for a reason.

Ian Bradwarden
Son of Maeglin, an at-large elder member of the Redhurst Academy of Magic, and Kylie Bradwarden, Ian has followed largely in his father’s footsteps. At a tender age, he began to show a strong aptitude toward arcane mastery, in spite of his half Elven blood.

Upon joining the Academy, he was selected for a special program – of which he quickly learned he was the lone student – requiring him to perform several years training with a band of Rangers with connection to High King Durante Torregrossa. This training came at a price, however, as Ian lost his first of the Maker’s Gifts his second year in. Immediately after, he was recalled to the Academy, and ushered into a more traditional academic path.

Days prior to his Seventh Year at the Academy, Ian was once again called upon, this time by the High King himself. He was instructed to ready himself immediately to join a troubled group of adventurers, and to act as their conscience, as well as to be the eyes and ears for the King amongst this officially disavowed group.

Having felt his life was always in the hands of shadowy political maneuvers, Ian is anxious for this opportunity to explore the world: To discover the mysteries of the arcane, and potentially to find some knowledge of what mysterious Fate has become of his Father. But perhaps this quest is about finding his true Self…

Blue Beak

Blue Beak is a Tengu, and an emissary from his all-powerful Daitengu, specifically raised, trained and sent to the Western world to aid Sonoda Kumori in his quest against the undead Emperor and to right the Wheel, returning balance to the world. He is a deadly serious creature, and his negotiating skills, as well as his position as Solicitor to his kind make him a formidable social contender. His skills at arms make him a contender on the battlefield as well.

When not dedicated to seriousness, Blue Beak spends his leisure time reading and writing poetry, and polishing his many trinkets and baubles collected in his travels over the years. He enjoys gambling and a nice warm cup (or three) of sake. He is grateful for the presence of his childhood hero, Sonoda Kumori, to whom he gives the greatest respect. It is clear that Blue Beak would sacrifice his life for Kumori, were it to ensure the success of the mission to regenerate the great wheel of fortune.
