A blue, sharded ceramic, speckling with mineral veins and salt crystals, that is the primary ingredient in Chulytyl alchemy and a product of their birthing rituals. Eggs, lain in clutches one hundred thousand strong, are nuggets of Obfusc containing the seed of Chulytyl life. As the spawn grows, layers of Obfusc press and shear into one another, until the fully-formed adult emerges, leaving behind a twisted wreckage of nutritious, organic material. This is collected and use to create drift-potions, to focus the Haze into dribble-spells, or to use as currency between Chulytyl mages. At the request of the Chulytyl people its trade was rendered illegal above-water, and a black market trade has arisen amongst the less salubrious inhabitants of Shoyl and Winterhaven.

Apart from its magical properties, Obfusc is a powerful drug that can incapacitate one exposed to it, and render them suggestible to stronger minds. This effect is only strengthened when submerged in water, and many accuse the Chulytyl of kidnapping members of the dry races to become dumb slaves to their will.
