The Tenth Session

December 29, 2011 12:00

After going through a hole in the ancient walls of the temple, they discover a small network of caves where cocoons are held and fed by small insects. Once the party alerts the brood mother of this place, the cocoons erupt and a fight breaks out. The party manages to scare away the brood mother, and discover the cart they were hunting after full of food.
They bring the cart back to Mornastar, where they are hailed as heroes and praised by many. Then they rest.
However, their oh so peaceful rest is interrupted by the brood mother coming for revenge. They manage to slice her minions in half, but unfortunately do not manage to kill off the brood mother before they are overrun by the swarms that continuously erupted from the refugees, and fall unconscious.

The Ninth Session

November 13, 2011 18:38

The party investigates the rumors in The Maiden’s Rose some more, and plans to travel to Fallcrest through Mornastar. When they arrive in Mornastar, they find out that there’s quite a lot of poor refugees with no food. And this one woman asks for her baby. They, however, can’t do much because they don’t have an enormous supply of food. Natsu gives away all his food. When they are walking towards Fallcrest to make the Dragonborn army go away so that the guards can go defend the farmers, they hear screams for help from the forest. When they go investigate, they see some webbed humanoid being pulled away by this insectlike humanoid creature that they recognise as an Ettercap. After interrogating the victim, they hear of a food caravan being captured and abducted by these Ettercaps. They follow the trail of insects and discover a temple to Moradin. When they enter it, the ground shakes and a chasm appears in the stairs downwards and 2 centipede swarms and an Ettercap climb out of it. Natsu wtfpwns the centipede swarms and the Ettercap flees downstairs. They follow the Ettercap downstairs (after a short rest in retrospect) and discover that a duergar has joined the enemy team! They kill the duergar, 2 Ettercaps, and centipede swarm (that fell down), investigate the chests in the room, discover a gem and 350 sp, and move on. In the next room, they kill 2 fire beetles, an ettercap and a spider, and discover a healing potion, 15 gp and a nice set of Wintersnap Leather Armor for Natsu. Then they find out a way to open up the last remaining closed sarcophagus, and find a nice Devilblind Longsword for Miriopleias. In the next room, they combat the likely cause of the earthquake, some Duergar evil looking guy. They kill all his minions, then after a long and tedious struggle manage to kill him as well.

The eighth session

October 29, 2011 15:00

They fight the identical rod pieces, then the chalice transforms into some humanoid like thing and they talk with it. He wants them to fight him in order to get the rod piece. It’s an epic fight, but in the end they defeat him, with no healing surges left they exit the room, only to find the imp there with a small group of devils. He demands the rod piece. They then get captured and thrown in front of the gelatinous cubes, and they run away. They discover an empty library, some tunnels, a guard room, an empty treasury and some hallways. They hear a ticking sound from somewhere that scares them, but they do decide to be adventurous and explore!
Then they discover a small robot-like creature, rusty and worn-out, and it walks up to Dayereth and climbs on top of his shoulder. Then they decide to get their rod piece back and go to The Black Forest! When they arrive at The Maiden’s Rose, they hear of a dragonborn army marching from the south towards Fallcrest!

The Seventh Session

September 18, 2011 15:00

Dayereth wakes up in the tavern where it all started, and finds a note that says “We did some experimenting on you. Have fun :D” in his pocket. Harrius mysteriously wakes up in that same tavern, not remembering anything yet again. They both head down, and meet the new party members, Natsu and Miriopleias. After a while the human (can’t remember his name) also heads downstairs and start getting drunk. Then it starts raining. Thunder strikes, and they see a shadow outside the window. After a while, the room starts leaking, but then they discover it wasn’t water, but blood!
They head upstairs, and discover a dead dragonborn and see someone fleeing over the rooftops!
They chase him into the sewers, and fight some rats and people! Then they convince one of those people that Harrius is a god, and he leads them to the home of the assassin. There they discover a very beautiful chest with an empty space that would fit a dagger, and then suddenly the assassin arrives at home. They capture him, take his dagger, get some information from him, namely that he was hired by an imp and overheard the words “Rangoth” and “Stavenger”. Then Natsu kills him.
They head back to the inn and go sleep.
When they wake up, Dayereth discovered his skin has turned reddish, and uses prestigiditation to change the color of his face to a normal color, and then the Human tries to get into a barfight, but fails to remember that swords aren’t appreciated when starting a barfight, and almosts gets the guards after him, especially because Harrius still believes he is a god and participates as well. Miriopleias intervenes and saves the day. They mess around a bit, and then guards knock on the door and bring them all to the guard station.
They are hired to investigate Castle Rangoth because the guards are suspicious of House Stavenger and that castle. They go there, which takes 2 days, and notice that the magic doors that were once so troubling to them aren’t anymore, because they have been opened. They go into the door that was closed and required a password, and overcome the fire maze trap thing.
Then they discover a giant chalice with water and a part of a rod inside, and the room is decorated by drawings of a story about the Rod of Seven Parts. They first ask the guy that they convinced Harrius was a god to grab the rod, but he can’t do it. Then they topple the giant chalice, and the rod explodes and various identical rods appear.

The Sixth Session

June 30, 2011 15:00

Dayereth, Caelin, Harrius and Mjollnir are attacked by demons who are looking for a +1 magic wand that is owned by Dayereth! After killing the demons, they do some stuff. Then they go to sleep. After they wake up, they go to the Duke’s castle in the city, which takes 2 days, talk some with the guard, and then go to castle Durgoth of house Stavenger. Which turns out to be the house of the duke. Arriving there, the door is locked and no one answers the door. They teleport and climb rope into some bedroom, and hwen they go through a door they discover some drakes and an imp. After talking some with the imp, Mjollnir is led to the wife of the Duke and his son. After talking some more, they are led back to the bedrooms. Then they are led to the wife of the Duke and his son, and captured and thrown into the prisons. They escape, and explore the castle. Nothing really seems interesting, except for this door with no handle that requires a password to open. They investigate it and go smash the wall next to the door. After a couple of hours, they see the imp at the end of a corridor. They are led into the throne room and the door closes behind them! They scare the imp off, who escapes through the door and goes towards the magic door. At the magic door, humans attack them! They beat the humans, and the imp escapes through the magic door. They follow and go down some stairs.

When the stairs are no more and the floor turns flat, they see three doors. One door that also requires a password, a big double door and a locked door. They go through the locked door first and discover a room with a cage and a bear inside and another locked door at the other side. When they go through the locked door, they discover a room with meat. Then they go through the double door and discover… A beholder. He tells them to leave. The party leaves, gets the bear out of his cage and sends the bear in to go attack the beholder. The beholder scares the bear off, and attacks the party with lazer beams! Dayereth convinces the bear to go in and attack the beholder, and after an epic fight they kill the beholder and scoop out it’s eyes so they have some more ritual components.

After examining the room, they discover it has two doors. One that isn’t locked and leads to a corridor that turns to the right after 25 foot, and another door that opens into a big courtyard with an open sky. The courtyard contains a mausoleum, and Dayereth walks towards the entrance of the mausoleum and is suddenly attacked by this big old statue with a longsword. Next to that, two snakes and this vine monster come out and attack! The party beats them after some serious fighting, find a pretty sweet artifact that grants everyone teleportation and open the door at the other end of the room.

They find a corridor with a dragon statue at the end, a pedestal with a stone book that has the same symbol as the locked magical door, and a wall of flame in between them and the pedestal. They also see a door next to the pedestal. When they move closer to the dragon statue, it shoots a bolt of force and pushes them back. Dayereth, however, disables the statue from a distance. Then Harrius jumps through the flame and discovers there’s an invisible wall in between him and the other side of the flames. Dayereth teleports past the invisible wall, and disables the invisible wall and the wall of fire. The stone book reads “Always a flame, never burning” Then Caelin tries to pry open the door, but fails.

They go back to the corridor, and go around the corner, and discover that it has two doors before bending to the left. They open the door on the left and discover a room with a twisted, dry tree full of weapons, a pedestal with a glass sphere on top and a suit of armor holding one arm out as if there would fit something cylindrical in and another as if something spherical would fit in. He says “Give me my weapon and the power of thunder.” The party hands him the sphere and a warhammer, and the suit of armor smashes the sphere with the hammer, then proceeds to smash the door next to him. Then Harrius grabs the now powered up hammer, and they discover lots of money and a key. They use the key on the locked door back at the hammer statue, and see a room with a scroll in the middle.

They pick up the scroll, but the room is trapped! The door closes behind them, and the party sees it has 3 locks on it. There’s one problem though, one of the walls is slowly moving towards them. They manage to escape, and discover the scroll will let them ask a question to some sages. Then they go to the door at the right of the corridor, and discover some healing fountain thingy. They drink, and recover 2 healing surges. Then they go to the end of the corridor, and discover stairs down. They go down the stairs, and discover this big sacrophagus and several smaller ones. They open up the sacrophagus, and a mummy walks out! The other sacrophagi open as well, and skeletons walk out. They manage to defeat the mummy and the skeletons, and decide to take a nap. Harrius and Mjollnir save against Mummy Rot, and the party takes the left path.

They discover a room with two statues and this old man. Harrius approaches the old man, and he turns out to be a zombie! The door closes, and Dayereth is still outside. He opens the door after a while, though. In the meanwhile, skeletons and zombies have been falling down from the roof and attacked Harrius, Mjollnir and Caelin inside. They manage to beat everything and destroy the statues which were raising all the skeletons and zombies. When they go through the door, they find a small room with two doors. They open the one on the right and discover this big room with a big claw-pedestal in the middle with gold on it. Dayereth lifts the gold from a distance with Mage Hand, and the two big doors in the room open. They see two small 10′×10′ rooms, but nothing appears to be inside them.
They decide to run together to the end of the room, where there is a door. However, when they enter the room, they discover a problem. They are inside a gelatinous cube. They teleport/escape their way out, and start the battle with the gelatinous cubes! One gelatinous cube grabs Mjollnir and moves towards one of the small 10′×10′ rooms. Caelin runs after the gelatinous cube and shoots it, standing right in between the two gelatinous cubes. He is consumed by one, then Harrius attacks one of the gelatinous cubes as well, but he, too, is absorbed into one of them.
Everyone dies, except for Dayereth and the bear.

The Fifth Session

May 06, 2011 13:00

Marc, Harrius, Caelin and Dayereth are approached by some fancy looking kobold. He wants them to lose the following fight.

When standing in the arena, the doors open, and a white dragon approaches them! They fight the white dragon, and win. Sometime later, they find that same fancy looking kobold acting all terrified. The party just walks away and is now free! But then they find a kobold patrol, they fight, but it looks like they are losing! The leader of the patrol offers them a deal, but Caelin doesn’t want to! Marc dies, and in the end they do still beat the patrol.

Then they find this big room with 2 dog statues and a big door and lots of pressure plates. They don’t trigger any of them, but the dogs turn live! They talk with the dogs, and one of them wants to go with them. They go through the door, and find this big dwarven statue that does attack them. They disable it, but no one has any healing surges left and most of them are walking around with 1 hp. They want to sleep, but decide against it because they sense some far realm presence lurking closer. Then they see this dwarf that is muttering nonsense. They kill him, and proceed on. Then they see this tentacle mass approaching them. They run! They get to the exit of the dwarven abandoned thing, and Dayereth trips. The tentacle thing is moving it’s tendrils towards him, but he barely manages to escape.

Outside, they decide to sleep in a tree. Unfortunately, Harrius wakes up hanging upside down, his foot tied to the tree with a rope. They go back to the city, and discover the duke was murdered! After investigating it a bit, they go to the guild master and open up this mysterious letter they found in the goblin lair. It turns out to be trapped. Then they walk outside and roll initiative…

The Fourth Session

March 20, 2011 16:00

In this session, Dayereth returns after being revived to the rest of the party, Caelin and Garret, and recruit them to rescue the other rest of the party! They go and get some help from an information broker first. They aren’t nice to the information broker, and a fight breaks out. They run, Caelin manages to escape, Garret just stays behind and Dayereth is captured. Then Marc comes with them on a quest to get magic items and save the other rest of the party! They fight bandits, are defeated (partly because Garret surrendered near the start of the fight) and robbed, and then proceed to hide in the bushes because they hear kobolds coming. They reveal themselves, fight the kobolds and win. But then even more kobolds come and they are captured. Garret almost kills the kobold leader, but is then struck down. They all wake up in prison and fight more rats, and some stirges. Dayereth isn’t killed by a rat swarm this time.

The Third Session

March 13, 2011 16:00

When Mjollnir, Harrius (now a Warlock) and Dayereth are peacefully enjoying their nice breakfast, some guy comes stumbling in screaming his wife got abducted. The heroes spring to action and charge to the graveyard to meet an evil goblin necromancer. They, ofcourse, slaughter it, but when it dies it looks to be controlled by something that isn’t nice to them.
Then the heroes go on a quest to get some magic stuff back from kobold robbers! They get a magic item as payment in advance, and promise they will return the magic items from the kobolds. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work out that well, and they are captured by the kobolds and thrown into an arena where they fight rats! And Dayereth is killed by a rat swarm.

The Second Session

February 24, 2011 12:00

The party manages to defeat the wolves and goblins, and bribe one goblin to show the party the location of the goblin lair. They defeat the guards, go right at the T-split, defeat some Ochre Jellies, Caelin holds 5 gp back from the party, they find a scrap of paper with mysterious writing, save prisoners, discover that the diplomat is actually a silver dragon, then they are beaten by a big goblin wizardry guy on a raised platform. Dayereth, Mjollnir and Harrius are captured! But Caelin escapes! And then gets the guild master, who needed a 3×3 space to do something epic. The party actually defeats the goblin wizard guy and other goblins themselves without the help of the guild master, find a letter from Kalarel, and then they meet with the cocky diplomat. Then they grab a box of cheese, go back to the arena, give the cheese to the public, are allowed into the guild, and go to sleep.

People present: Dayereth, Mjollnir, Harrius and Caelin
