Grew up in Farmers Branch, Texas just north of Dallas to a suburban middle class average family. Dad worked for corporate America and mom was a housewife (former school teacher). She never really excelled in school and her looks and charm tended to get her through most things.

ASPECT: “I Give Off That All American Girl Next Door Vibe”

Her Dad vanished when she was growing up and her Mom went back to teaching school to pay the bills. Left mostly to fend for herself… Doran became a “popular girl” (cheerleader, mall rat, academic underachiever, etc.). She decided to go off to college to get away from Mom and be on her own… Brookhaven Community College seemed to have low enough requirements that even with her grades she was accepted.

ASPECT: “Kinda a Ditz” and “Unresolved Issues with Parents”

When a pair of Red Court Vampires attack one of her friends, Doran gets involved. But will she succeed when she discovers that vampires are really powerful and she has no training?

Things are looking grim for the home team when somebody shows up out of nowhere and slaughters the Vampires. However, in the process, the mysterious hero gets really, really hurt. Doran tries to get help but is told that it can’t be the hospitals and no cops. This was her initiation to the shadowy world of the Venatori Umbrorum. Actually, a splinter branch of the Venatori that dabbles in what they call ritual “white magic” (Thaumaturgy) for the purpose of slaying vampires.

This would begin several years of intense combat training to make Doran a “slayer” of the Ordos Venatori de Reclusiam Umbrarum (different but related to the Venatori Umbrorum). However, though she really likes slaughtering the undead… most of the time she’d really rather be a normal girl again.
