Dies The Light Character Build

  • 8th level character
    • Roll 4d6 and drop the lowest die result to determine stats.
    • Reroll if the total result is 9 or lower.
    • If you do not have an 18 after rolling for all 6 stats, you may convert the lowest score .
  • Only LE, NE, and CE alignments.
  • Any Core, Base, Alternate, and Prestige class.
    • Cannot select a class that requires any Good alignment
      • Exception: A paladin who has fallen and is taking levels of Blackguard
    • Cannot select a class that does not allow Evil aligned characters, such as ‘Neutral only’.
    • If you can plead your case, I will be open to reverse this judgment and remove the alignment restriction from the class.
    • Consult DM for any 3rd party class found on the SRD or otherwise
  • Any Core, Featured, or Uncommon race.
    • Ignore any Alignment restrictions for race
    • Any alternate race trait or racial class archetype may be selected

    • Merfolk must do one of the following
      • Take the Strongtail alternate racial trait which increases your land speed

      • Possess some spell/device to increase or subjugate their base land speed

  • Starting Gold is 33,000
    • No single item purchased may cost more than half of this amount
      • This rule does not apply to enchanting weapons or armor
        • This does apply to the weapons and armor themselves
    • Everyone starts with a Basic Adventuring Gear Backpack for free. This will be added shortly to the OP.
      • (There might be an Advanced Adventuring Gear Backpack, if I can find the time to bang it out, with better equipment but this will require a small donation from your starting gold.)
    • If a character wants a particular item but cannot presently afford it, consult DM. With some negotiation, you might be able to receive this item….for a price.
  • Select two Traits that complement your character based on their questionnaire, backstory, race or class.
    • Both traits do not have to belong to the same Trait Type.
    • Consult DM before selecting traits of the Campaign type as well as 3rd party traits found on the SRD or otherwise.
    • If you do not find any trait that applies to your character and have an idea for one that would, consult DM.
  • Select and apply feats as normal.
    • Consult DM for any 3rd party feat found on the SRD or otherwise

  • Assign skill points as normal.
  • Spellcasters select spells as normal.
    • Even if you are not a spellcaster, you know the spell Dark Ritual, which can be found on the document on Sacrifices.
