Council of Coin
The “lower house” of Ludheim’s ruling body. It derives its members from the city’s merchant families, thus the “coin” that makes up the Council. There are seven seats on the Council; each family appoints its representative Councilor. The appointment is decided by whatever means the family desires. The other Councilors have no official, direct say in the matter, but other political pressures can be put into play to influence the family’s decision. A Merchant Prince family can be removed and added to the Council in the manner as the Council of Blood.
Procedurally, the Council of Coin operates identically to the Council of Blood. However, the Nobles tend to operate in a formalized, genteel manner, while the Merchant Princes have a more casual, and more openly cutthroat, way of governing. It often makes the political life of these Councilors much briefer.
The head of the Council is the Lord Merchant. While still an underling to the Lord Baron, the Lord Merchant holds significant political and economic power. The current Lord Merchant is the dwarf Oleg Haasenstadt.
