Dockyards

Welcome to The Dockyards

The Dockyards is a special place created as a haven for criminals, by criminals. A huge offshore platform, The Dockyards have grown over the years to become nearly entirely self-sufficient. It has it’s own hydroponics for growing food and drugs, it’s own foundry, shipwrights, hospital, market, bank, research facilities and a secure residential area for the employees, among other things.

The Dockyards serves as a central hub for trade in all things illegal and legal, natural and unnatural, good and evil. The criminals that set up the place take little interest in what goes through the place, as long as they get their cut.

No one knows exactly who the benefactors of The Dockyards are. Rumour has it that it was contracted out to various companies using a kind of blind donation system where several organisations and people donated money and resources without knowing who the others were or how exactly they were involved. The only person who knows whose share is whose is the Accountant, a specialist computer program of unknown design or origin that manages the The Dockyards Bank.

The Players

As players, you are employed by The Dockyards. Employees of The Dockyards are referred to as Dockworkers, regardless of whether they actually work on the docks or not. They are expected to hold the up most discretion with The Dockyards clients and visitors and are expected to use false identities at all times for their own safety. The available jobs at The Dockyards range from simple labourers working with cargo at the docks to guards to researchers to traders to farmers. Every job is essential, every job comes with immense benefits including the freedom to switch assignment at any time, a large expense account which renders most services The Dockyards provide free and a generous wage paid filtered into an account (or accounts) or your choice.

All employees are expected to deal with any problems that arise themselves, The Dockyards does not employ police but it does expect it’s employees and visitors alike to maintain the general operation and protection of the facilities. The Dockyards does group certain employees together into trouble-shooting group though that are called on to act as a more cohesive team when a more anarchistic approach is deemed inadequate.

The players are one of those teams.
