Houserules

• At character creation you get the following ability modifiers:
  • +2 Wisdom.
  • Your choice of +2 Intelligence or +2 Charisma.

Deva are the mortal descendants of the God Emperors of Haan Sad. Even with their empire now shattered, most of the deva have chosen to remain in the Plains of Torann. However, since they have no heir to the empire, they formed many small fractured kingdoms looking for their own way to regain their former glory.

Deva believe they are mortal fragments of their god, Haan Sad, after whom their empire was named. The God Emperors are literally divine fragments of their creator, while normal deva are little further removed, but still instilled with a spark of divinity. It is said that as one moves further away from his divine origin and looses that spark, one is eventually reincarnated as a human, or something worse, depending on how you lead your life. According to some legends Deva who move too far away from their divine heritage become Raksashas, but this story is dismissed as an old wives’ tale.

Note: While Deva go through the reincarnation process as described in the PHB2, they are born in the conventional way.
