Glognus Tengo's Almanac: GrangeGrange, a small (mostly) human community of about 2000 in the town proper, 4000 in the immediately Surrounding district. Grange is managed by Magistrate Tallow Shorewood(?), a half-elf of advanced years who seems fairly competent. The town is quiet, orderly, and peaceful, and apparently full of morons.
There is a temple filled with god-bothering worshipers to St. Cuthbert, and aside from their willingness to sell holy water, they serve no other useful purpose. The local 'mage' is likewise a disappointment. Nilah, as he calls himself, apparently spends most of his time "consulting the arcane mists" which I believe is simply his way of saying that he keeps his brain addled by inhaling the vapors from some burning herbal concoction.
The town guard seems reasonably competent, though bored. The lack of crime, war, or other dangers make them complacent. Their jail facilities are acceptable, and though I have yet to see the courts, I assume that the dedication to law and order makes them equally sufficient.
The Magistrate seems intelligent enough, unlike his citizenry, though the man does live behind an iron gate with no walls attached to it. This town has miserable defenses.
No information on local turnips, or perhaps rutabaga. One could hope these people could grow a decent root or two. Perhaps I should ask about potatoes, or dare I… radishes. <!
