Swordplay Without Company

Oh, a time to be left to your own devices.

December 16, 2007 02:24

Bored. Bored, bored, bored. Oh a time to be Bored. I joined this adventure for the magic items, not to sit around on a earth glider twiddling my thumbs.

As we broke camp, a strong feeling of restlessness came over me and I knew I needed to get out of there. Bings was feeling much the same and decided to join me, with Alf in tow.

As we were walking along, my Magic detection told me that there was a magic item afoot, I needed to check it out. To my dismay it was a magically hidden hole in the ground. A very deep hole.

Anyway, push came to shove, we killed a minotaur, got paid, got jacked, and ended up wiser than we entered.

I got enough loot to justify buying some magical armor enhancements and a wand.

Maybe it was worth it, maybe it cost too much, but this short adventure got me closer to full magic immersement.

P.S. Centaur sorcerers are greedy bastards.

To Travel

December 14, 2007 02:30

The instructions alert the party to a conflict in House Cannith that places Lady E in danger. They are also given instructions to find another schema, which will be combined with others to form a pattern to create very powerful magic devices.

With supplies from Lady E the party decided to travel by land. After taking the Lightning Rail to the edge of Breland and take a caravan through the Marguul Pass.

The caravan leader likes the look of the party enough to offer gold for their services as guards, a most fortunate decision on his part when a group of goblins and bugbears attack the caravan. He pays the promised fee as soon as the enemies are driven off, and the rest of the trip is comfortable.

Soon after arriving in Rhukaan Draal the party decides to split up, with the two soldiers going east to find information and the rest of the group going west.

As it turns out, west was the best way to go, and the group finds the Bloody Market with little trouble, and from there they manage to find Failin, the man who is supposed to take them into the Mournland to find the schema.

Meanwhile, the fighters try to find directions in a tailorshop, and instead find themselves swindled out of 30 gold, then nearly attacked by the city guard. They were only saved by a timely bribe of 10 gold, and quickly decided to rejoin their friends, who were gathering the supplies needed to make the journey.

A Letter From Bringham

A Letter Addressed to the Baroness Bings of Trolanport

Dear Baroness,

This letter marks the first of many, as I shall be sending you regular reports on my progress as I explore the lands of Breland in search of gold, powerful artifacts, and anything else shiny and valuable. I suppose my first priority would be to apologize for not informing you of my departure, but I knew you would try to prevent me from leaving, and I do so hate “goodbye”s.

I assure you I am well, and I have already found a worthy endeavor in which I may invest my time and skill. The reward will be great when I have completed my task, and you shall hear of it as quickly as my letters will travel. Unfortunately I have not gained much reward to this point, but I have managed to earn twenty-five gold guarding a caravan from many foul and stupid beasts of the wild.

The gold may not be much, but surely it will afford an extension to keep that foul Drek off of our land for a few more weeks.

The people I travel with are so strange, but interesting. Our employer has a talent for making people want her dead, which is fortunate because it makes helping her all the more worthy of reward. We have also come into the possession of a strange magic artifact of an indiscernible nature. I have schemed many times to steal it as the others sleep, but I am afraid it is impossible. There is another who is talented in such arts, and he obviously has his eyes on it as well.

The worst part is he is one of those elves you told me about. I had to learn the hard way that he doesn’t sleep as you or I do, but instead meditates overnight. Worried that he might find some of my gear useful, I have taken to using my pack as a pillow, as well as securing a bell to the flap so that it cannot be opened without alerting me.

I am afraid dawn is approaching, and we must rise with the sun to continue our trek. I will write to you more about my adventures and the strange ones I travel with. Count on receiving more gold as well, for I am determined to return our family to it’s long-lost glory.

Be well, and give Uncle Bil my regards.

Your loving son,

Bringham Bings

A Disaster in the Making

Lady E is in trouble

December 12, 2007 10:00

The party spends some time resting and spending their newly gotten gold, but after a few weeks they decided to visit the House Sivis message station.

Problems quickly began to mount from there when the party discovered that the station had been ransacked by a humanoid and some kobolds, who had stolen nothing besides the message Elaydrin ir’Vown directed towards the party.

Fortunately for the party there was no further trouble, and as they left the station a scroll was delivered to them directing the group to meet with Elaydrin.

At the Broken Anvil Tavern Lady Elaydrin handed the party a backpack with instructions and supplies, but before any discussion could take place, a warforged and his kobold band burst into the tavern, determined to take Elaydrin by force.

The warforged, named Cutlass, immediately attacked the warforged Alfonse, screaming about the “flesh lovers.”

As the battle wore on and Cutlass was injured, he began to rant and recite a memorized speech detailing how the warforged would shove aside the weaker fleshlings and dominate the world.

As the adventurers worked on taking down the attackers, Lady Elaydrin fleed, warning them to depart as soon as possible to avoid danger.

The Forgotten Forge

Test Adventure, two PCs

November 18, 2007 04:15

This adventure was a test to adjust to the style of play in the Eberron campaign. It was conducted only with two PC’s.

Upon witnessing the murder of a House Cannith scholar, Paneak and his friend Vanael are charged by the house to finish the man’s investigation.

They are given instructions through Lady Elaydren. After journeying under Sharn they discover the long forgotten forge of an ancient House Cannith smith, which contains a schema the house wishes to obtain.

After dealing with servants of the Lord of Blades the PC’s managed to return the schema, thus earning the reward and gaining a contact in Lady Elaydren.
