Jack Quick travels to the New World to seek treasures like the Fountain of Youth or the City of Gold, aboard a ship bound for Jamestown, where he meets Solomon Kane and John White. He agrees to help them find Virginia Dare. Meanwhile, White Doe uses her shamanic powers to escape the slavery of the Powhatan chief, Gepanocan. Jack, Solomon and John travel to Gepanocan’s village to free the survivors from Roanoke, hopefully including Virginia Dare, and find themselves caught in the midst of battle when White Doe returns with a war band to free the rest of the slaves. John White recognizes White Doe as Virginia Dare, and meets his old friend, Content Not Found: manteo, another of Gepanocan’s slaves. They turn back soon from returning to Jamestown, though, when they find English soldiers heading back to set Gepanocan’s village to torch and kill all its inhabitants. After overcoming the soldiers, Solomon finds orders given to the officer from the new governor, Baron de la Warr, from the London Company, to kidnap Indian children to raise them in the English culture, and to use “Irish tactics” in crushing the Powhatan.
