Recently, I’ve been on a LotRO kick and decided to do some reading. Apparently, when I read the Silmarillion some 20-odd years ago, it left a bigger imprint on my subconscious mind than I realized.
After perusing the wiki entry about the history of the world, I came upon a map of NĂºmenor. At the center of the island is a star-shaped mountain known as Meneltarma, which translates as Pillar of Heaven.
As you may have noticed on my map, there is a star-shaped stone promontorym roughly near the center of the continent, known as the Pillar of the Heavens. sigh
I assure you that this was NOT a conscious effort to emulate Middle Earth. Unfortunately, this is a near exact reproduction of an existing geological feature in JRR Tolkien’s beloved world.
While I will not be changing the physical appearance of the Crystal Veil region, I very much plan to change the name.
