Bormar Scandal
At the end theLast Great Northern War against the Marauders of the Chaos wastes, Lord Sobin Stec and his Eldest son Bormar returned home victorious. They were heralded as heroes. During their ten year campaign however Erengrad experienced a steady fall into disrepair. The city had lost a lot of wealth to the war effort and crime had started ramping up throughout the city. Lord Stec made promises to the people that he would clean up and rebuild the city to its former glory; promises that never were fulfilled.
Months after their return Bormar became quite aloof, he would be absent from noble functions and rude to anyone who had a chance encounter with him. Rumors of strange cries from Bormar’s chambers and demonic writing on his walls were quickly spread to the other noble houses by the Lord Stec’s staff. Lord Stec did his best to hide his son, but one night while in council with his most trusted friend and advisor Duke Archibald Zale, Bormar burst into the room shouting daemonic curses. Bormar was hunched over with spiked extrusions on his back. His left arm was completely deformed, having tentacles sprouting from his muscles and writhing around. Lord Stec quickly calmed his son and took the man from the room, but the damage had been done. Duke Zale demanded that Bormar be put to the death for his mutations and Deamonic obsession. He feared the poor boy was tainted beyond helping, and was quite possibly possessed by a Daemon. Lord Stec pleaded, even commanded the Duke to keep what he saw a secret, but the Duke would have none of it.
In court the following day Duke Zale demanded that Young Lord Bormar be brought before the public and revealed for the Daemon spawn he was. There was a massive uproar to the news, and Lord Stec was forced to hand over his son to the people of the court. However when a robed Bormar arrived to address the court, he threw off all his clothes and revealed the monstrosity he had become, he cursed the court and everyone who bared witness to his flesh, and quickly fled the city, killing 5 guardsmen in the process. The once celebrated Lordling reportedly headed north towards the chaos wastes, but has not been seen in Erengrad ever since.
In the aftermath of the scandal, Lord Stec fired nearly all of his household staff, and is rumored to have beheaded several select maids. Lord Stec also did his best to financially and politically ruin Duke Zale. The Duke has taken many financial losses due to the Lord’s economic meddling, but the Duke has seen a political surge of support, albeit in secret, by many noble houses who are growing tired of Lord Stec’s antics.
