All posts and wiki pages are editable by all campaign members. So, they can edit your pages or create their own (and you can edit all their stuff, too). Only you (the GM) can see the GM-only stuff, though. Some have asked about the wisdom of this, but my personal view is this: if you can’t trust your players not to mess with your wiki pages, are they trustworthy enough to be playing the game with in the first place? Complicated permission systems are a pain to deal with, and so far the “trust all players in the campaign” system has worked out well.
And yes, to change how things are ordered in the Adventure Log, just change the dates. Some people even set a date in the far future in order to make sure something stays top-posted.
I am indeed hoping the players will help. By the way, are they able to edit posts on the adventure log that I originally created? Or do they have to make their own posts? I assume that if the latter, people typically use the dates of the posts in order to put them in the correct order?
You’re absolutely right about trying to make it as easy as possible. There are lots of campaigns here with a single entry saying “I’m going to enter all 1000 years of back sessions, just wait and see!”
Then…nothing…
I guess whatever is easiest and works for you and your group is a good way to do it. Also, don’t be afraid to ask your players to pitch in. Some actually enjoy this sort of stuff.
I do plan to make individual log posts eventually. Since I have this big “backlog” of sessions though, I just wanted to start with a paragraph or so for each one, all one one page. That is turning out to be intimidating enough to tackle :)
I guess I could just do them all as individual log posts that start out as a paragraph each, then fill them out over time… I did not actually have the dates of all the old sessions handy, which would have made it harder to enter them in the adventure log section. But now I’ve reconstructed that, so maybe I’ll just move them over now.
Hey, is there a reason that you’re making a wiki page for your previous sessions, rather than individual adventure log posts for each one? There’s no wrong way to do things, but I just try to understand why people choose to do things one way or another.
