Back in Miterimas, the party’s path crosses that of Dellis, a young boy who is quite a troublemaker. After breaking up an altercation between the boy and an enraged cook, Nift decides to take him on as his page, teaching him proper manners.
Next, the party hears about a colloquium happening at the university. It was organized on short notice to announce a major discovery regarding the lost Saurite civilization. Curious, the heroes (except Rock?) attended the meeting. There, a Prof. Birdelay claimed to have found a misfiled stele in the university museum; his analysis of the stele suggested that the commonly accepted calibration of the Saurite calendar needed to be adjusted by several decades. This proclamation threw the faculty into ferocious and excited debate, but the heroes were not very impressed.
They were, however, curious about the “misfiled” stele. Investigation revealed that the stele may have been removed from the swamp only recently and planted at the museum by an unknown party.
That night, a snow storm started. The next day, Dellis’ hysterical mother sought out Nift and his friends, crying that the boy had wandered out alone in the storm. The E-Team was able to track him down in the wilds north of the village where he was being menaced by a slavering winter wolf. Springing into action, the E-Team quickly defeated the beast. During the fight, Rock sheltered the boy from the creature’s breath weapon with his own body.
The boy could not give a good explanation for why he wandered off, and a ranger from the village suggested that the winter wolf’s behavior was strange…
At the colloquium, the heroes also heard about the concept of time fossils for the first time.
