For those of us that cast spells:
Using a combined Spellcraft check we MAY be able to share the spells we know with others.
I am not sure of the specifics,
but the reason I could share the “Protection From” spell with Warrn
was because it IS a Wizard spell
and we both use Intelligence to cast
as well as use a “Spell Book” of sorts.
This may extend to other styles;
like our resident Druid teaching our Ranger some of his spells.
P.S.
I need powdered silver to cast my Protection spells…
can I get some from Warrn’s Component Pouch?
Okay!
Right now, I am an Archivist… kind of a “Divine Wizard” of sorts.
True to my nature, I am focused on knowledge and healing right now…
I am thinking of going 5 levels of Archivist
and then, IF I am able, gaining levels as a Wizard.
This means I will be limited to low-level spells,
but I feel that my strategic ability should prove more effective
with a broader base to work with.
In addition; both the Archivist and Wizard can learn new spells just from studying them!
After level 8 (Archivist 5/ Wizard 3) I plan on proceeding
into the Mystic Theurge prestige class, from the DMG.
The class progresses both my Arcane and Divine spell casting…
The down side? VERY low HP and Attack Bonuses.
What do you guys think about this?
Personally; I know I am very analytical and I love figuring out technicalities,
so I thought that being a utility spellcaster that can learn almost any new spell
would suit me quite nicely!
Grimm Rules
[Work in Progress]
1. Always be humble and polite.
2. Night is dangerous… Daylight is GOOD!
3. Wolves and Dwarves are usually evil.
4. A circle of Salt wards away the fey. A circle of Mushrooms traps mortals by the fey.
5. Royalty are often crazy… just don’t tell them so.
6. NEVER fight a hero.
7. Golems resist magic.
8. Running water prevents the passage of many evil beings.
9. Silver is usually holy and connected to the Moon.
Talked with Brian about sharing spells…
-You have the ABILITY to learn new spells as you level,
but you need to have a logical progression* in most cases.
-With Detect Magic and Spellcraft checks we can learn/teach spells.
-Learning a spell from another with their help takes about 2 hours for both characters.
-It takes about a day to learn a spell from a scroll or book.
-The Arcane / Divine barrier exists, but an Archivist can breach it in certain ways**.
-We WILL get access to scrolls and possibly spell-books from NPCs.
-The Spell Component Pouch is NOT an endless supply of components,
and as such it needs to be replenished (I assume?).
*Example: Cure Light Wounds > Cure Moderate Wounds > Cure Serious Wounds
or Magic Missile > Ray of Force
**Archivists can only teach Wizards spells they developed themselves,
not ones that they learned from others (Unless they were a Wizard too?).
@Voidbane Yes but only enough for one protection spell.

I’m getting those rules embroidered on something IC. Maybe the inside of my sleeves, just for crib notes.

“Over the rest of the day before you leave, you note that he was not a wizard but rather a merchant that may have dealt with magic wielders.”
Due to the confusion it may cause,
I have decided to wait to post my journal entry
until the game develops a bit further.
You can still ask about it ICly,
as my note-taking is not being done in secret.
